NBA Player Props, January 12, 2023
- Kyrie Irving o39.5 points + rebounds + assists
- Joel Embiid o31.5 points
- Scottie Barnes o14.5 points
Kyrie Irving o39.5 points + rebounds + assists (-120)
Per CourtIQ, Kyrie Irving receives the largest increase in usage (+6.6%) with Durant on the sidelines this season. Missing his co-star, Irving is averaging 30.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per 36 minutes of action in a sample size of 295 minutes. Per StatMuse, Irving has recorded at least 39 points-rebounds-assists in each of his last four games with Durant in street clothes. Tonight, he gets to face a Boston Celtics defense that is on the second-half of a back-to-back set, and could be without their best perimeter defender, Marcus Smart. This is a great spot to target an over for bettors.
Joel Embiid o31.5 points (-120)
According to props.cash, Joel Embiid has eclipsed this market number in six of his last seven games, scoring at least 35 points in each of the games in which he has gone over. On Thursday, he gets a favorable matchup against a youthful Oklahoma City Thunder defense that has struggled to play defense without fouling. Entering play, the Thunder rank 29th on the season in opponent free-throw attempts per game, and are allowing 27.4 attempts per game from the charity stripe on the road. Embiid is shooting 85.8% from the free-throw line this year on 11.6 attempts per game. Expect him to draw a number of fouls again this evening, which will help him hit the over once again on his points prop.
Scottie Barnes o14.5 points (-110)
Scottie Barnes had only seven points on Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets, creating an excellent buy-low spot for bettors on the market this evening. Prior to his most recent contest, Barnes had scored 17 points or more in three of his last four games and five out of eight dating back to December 23. Before Tuesday’s poor showing, Barnes had attempted at least 10 shots from the floor in nine consecutive games, with as many as 19 field goal attempts during that span. Facing a Charlotte team that ranks 27th in defensive efficiency this season, expect him to bounce-back on Thursday – take the over here.
