Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals Prediction: Is Charlie Wright?
Is Charlie Wright? explores one NFL bet each week based on a major decision point. Ideally, this article will lay out a case for the bet in a thorough manner, giving the reader the opportunity to either agree with the perspective and tail the bet or disagree with the breakdown and fade the pick.
Was Charlie Wright?
Yessir. New England hung around a bit, but Miami more or less cruised to an easy cover. They’re closing the AFC Champion odds gap on Kansas City, and after the Chiefs’ Week 8 performance, maybe they should be ahead.
Whiffed on both props. Jerome Ford shockingly played, which in theory was huge for our Kareem Hunt under, but he still led the team in carries and got there. To the disdain of everyone in the fantasy community, George Pickens went back to being wind sprints guy. Diontae Johnson dominated targets. It’s a real shame.
Aaand failed to tweet the poll again. My bad. No stats for the public this week.
Records after Week 8
- Charlie: 5-3
- Prop Picks: 9-7
- The Public: 2-3-1
Week 9 Pick: Cincinnati ML (-125 on Fanatics)
Reason: Joe Burrow is BACK.
HIM. Just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name.
Burrow had good games in Weeks 6 and 7, but he looked like an MVP candidate in Week 8. He had just one less passing TD (3) than incompletion (4) against a solid San Francisco defense on the road. That’s now 8 TDs vs. 2 INTs over the past three weeks, after he had a 2:2 TD:INT ratio in Weeks 1-4.
Maybe the best evidence for Burrow’s return to form was the rushing production against the 49ers. He came into the game with a symmetrical 14 carries for 14 yards on the season, then ran for 43 yards on 6 totes on Sunday.
Buffalo’s defense is third in points allowed per game, but their list of offensive opponents is disgusting: Jets, Raiders, Commanders, Dolphins, Jaguars, Giants, Patriots, Buccaneers. There are like 1.5 good offenses in that bunch. Not to mention the Bills have been crushed by injuries on that side of the ball.
This line has bounced all over the place, opening with Buffalo as a favorite and moving as high as Cincinnati -3. The Bengals are rightful favorites at home and this feels like a cheap price on the moneyline.
PICK: Bengals ML (-125 on Fanatics Sportsbook)
NFL Player Props for Week 9
Jonathan Taylor Over 64.5 Rushing Yards (-115 on BetMGM)
Speaking of guys that look like themselves. Taylor seems to be fully back from his offseason ailments, routinely ripping off big gains against a good New Orleans defense last week. Zack Moss continues to be a factor, but there has been plenty of work to go around, which should continue against a weak run defense in Carolina.
Chicago Bears Under 18.5 (alternate total) (-175 on Fanatics)
Eating a ton of juice here, but important to get above that key number of 17. New Orleans is 5th in yards allowed and 9th in points allowed per game. The Bears were stifled on Monday night and haven’t been able to get much going with Tyson Bagent under center, outside of the huge D’Onta Foreman game against Las Vegas.
