Lookahead lines give NFL bettors the ability to buy early based on how they think the upcoming weekend will play out. Are you more bearish on the Cardinals than the market? Then you might want to go ahead and bet against them two weeks out. Do you think there’s an overreaction to the Browns’ early struggles or too much credit is given to the 3-0 49ers? Nothing is stopping you from grabbing Cleveland +3 in their Week 5 matchup.

Here’s an early look at PointsBet’s NFL Week 5 betting lines. Be sure to use these lines as a reference to compare them with opening lines at other sports books following Sunday’s Week 4 games. It could shed light on some recency bias in this market.

Rams at Seahawks +3

The defending NFC champions are 3-0 but they still have work to do offensively, especially on the offensive line. The Rams are making a conscious effort to lessen Todd Gurley workload, but even with the ball, he hasn’t shown the same explosiveness displayed in recent seasons. The Rams shouldn’t have much trouble in Week 4, opening as 10-point favorites against Tampa Bay. The Seahawks are on the road but face the Cardinals, who Russell Wilson will look to dissect through the air. The spread, post-Sunday, isn’t likely to move much from the lookahead line we get this week.

Cardinals at Bengals -4

I’m even more bearish than most people are when it comes to first-year head coach Kingsbury and the Cardinals. While I’m on board with Kingsbury bringing the spread offense to the NFL, and I actually think it’s optimal considering the Cardinals porous offensive line, he already has a highlight reel of mind-boggling decisions early in his NFL coaching career. Still, I have a difficult time imagining the Bengals giving more than 4 points. Considering the Seahawks’ — Arizona’s Week 4 opponent — secondary isn’t even a shadow of what it once was, I’ll sit back and wait for the line come post-Sunday.

Bills at Titans -2.5

The Titans are giving up a ton of sacks, as you saw if you tuned in to their Thursday night game against the Jaguars. They face a hungry Falcons team on the road while the Bills host the Patriots in Week 4. The Bills have one of the top defenses in the league. If they play the Patriots moderately close and the Titans struggle in Atlanta, this line could end up closer to a pick ‘em.

Buccaneers at Saints -5.5

Saints have a big game against Dallas in the Superdome and the Buccaneers travel to Los Angeles as 10-point underdogs. The jury is still out on Teddy Bridgewater, but if the Saints pull of the Week 4 upset then they’ll be talked about as a Super Bowl contender once again, and they’ll end up favored by more than 4.5.

Vikings at Giants +6

It will be Daniel Jones third game as an NFL started and the Giants will still be without Saquon Barkley. The good news? Golden Tate returns. The Vikings are underdogs at Chicago this week and Danny Dimes should be able to continue his impressive start against a vulnerable Redskins secondary that has allowed a 122.2 passer rating this season. I lean towards taking the Giants +6 early.

Ravens at Steelers +4.5

We’ll find out how bad the Steelers are with the Mason Rudolph this week when they take on the Bengals. The Ravens play the Browns and, probably to my demise, I’m taking the Browns +7. Unless something crazy happens, will the Ravens really be giving the Steelers less than 4.5 points?

Falcons at Texans -3.5

This is a spread that seems about dead on. I don’t see it changing much either way unless some unforeseen injury occurs.

Broncos at Chargers -6.5

There talks that Melvin Gordon could be returning to camp as early as this week. That means the Chargers could put him to work against the Broncos, who have looked flat offensively and defensively so far this season.

Cowboys at Packers +3.5

The Packers take on the Eagles, which makes for some interesting Thursday Night Football betting. As discussed earlier, the Cowboys are 2.5-point favorites at the Superdome. The Cowboys have had one of the easier schedules so far. If Rodgers and the offense start clicking against Philadelphia and the Cowboys fall flat in their first real test of the season then expect this line to move down a half-point, possibly to Packers +2.5. I’ll take the 3.5 while I can get it.

Colts at Chiefs -7.5

There’s a possibility that Tyreek Hill plays his first game against the Colts. Hill’s arrival will make the Chiefs even tougher to keep up with. With that said, I don’t think his arrival will have much impact on the overall spread. I’m fine with sitting back and waiting on this one.

Browns at 49ers -3

Heading into the season I knew there was too much hype surrounding the Browns. Now I’m starting to think there’s too much pessimism. By Sunday night, the Browns could very well find themselves leading the AFC North. The offensive line and play-calling is a huge concern, but I’m not a believer in the 49ers, who are on their bye week. Give me the Browns +3 before they upset the Ravens.
