Fantasy Football Millionaire Review: Week 12
The Millionaire review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for the weekly DraftKings Millionaire Maker GPP.
This week, we looked at the $3.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $27 and maximum entry limit of 150 lineups per person.
Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game
Dandydon took strong stances on a handful of players that didn’t pan out, but redeemed himself with others that did. Russell Wilson looked like his old self after progressively becoming healthier, allowing him to scramble, and make plays with his legs. However, he failed to produce against one of the leagues worst pass defenses and as a team, just scored 5 real-life points on the day. As he spread out his ownership quite thin, he did have a number of lineups with the contrarian studs on the day: LeSean McCoy, Jonathan Stewart, Carlos Hyde, Michael Thomas, and of course Mike Evans. His flex ownership was pretty standard across the board with a majority of it lining up WR for their high upside. Dandydon finished the day with a cash rate of 48% with a high score of 182.34, good for the 295th place finish.
As there was a number of hot QBs going into this week in fine matchups, much was not said about Drew Brees in the Superdome. Escot4 apparently didn’t receive the memo as he held faith in the Brees’ home/road splits and outpaced the field in ownership by nearly 20%. From there, he had a large amount of David Johnson, who is basically the entire Cardinals offense at this point in the season. He may have flexed the running back position more than most as Ajayi was in a mouth-watering matchup against the winless Browns, and in general, it has appeared that stud running backs have been much more consistent week-to-week than wide receivers. Unfortunately for escot4, he slotted Willie Snead in as his cornerstone Saints receiver instead of Michael Thomas. However, he still had 12% ownership in the rookie and it paid off, as escot4 cashed in 60% of lineups and finished with three lineups inside the top-50 (topped out at #16).
Papagates has seen a flurry of great weeks lately and this week was no exception. It is especially incredible due to the narrow quarterback ownerships he tends to play (one miss and a majority of your lineups are dead on arrival). Unfortunately for papa, he decided to put a full fade on David Johnson as he most likely expected the Cardinals to be behind by a significant margin and throwing for much of the game. That game script did play out, but David Johnson was featured as the #1 receiver, hauling in a team-high 8 catches for 103 yards and 1 touchdown. While his 79.3% ownership in Larry Fitzgerald proved to severely cap his upside, 77.3% ownership in Mike Evans helped provide a solid base for a majority of his lineups. Papagates ended with a healthy cash rate of 67.3%, but due to the DJ fade and significant Fitz ownership, failed to crack the top-1000 finishes as his high of 172.16 was only good enough for 1036th place.
Single-Entry Winner of the Game
Travisman8 had a sick sweat ahead of him as he saw himself high up the DK leaderboard with Emmanuel Sanders left to play. Sanders had averaged 10 targets over his last 4 games, but had only been able to secure a tad over 50% of those for receptions due to sophomore QB learning curve. He was only owned at a 2.8% clip and Travisman8 was able to leapfrog his way to first with Sanders’ 7 catch, 162 yard, and 1 touchdown production. The other bold moves that catapulted Travis into his $1M win was through Colin Kaepernick legs. He had been able to provide a solid floor through his rushing totals and had the arm strength to take advantage of the longball (if he could complete a pass). Although, his ceiling seemed to be capped at the 27 points he scored against the infamous Saints D, he outdid himself to the tune of 296 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and over 100 yards rushing, good for the highest raw point total on the slate (at only $5700 too). Travis’ excellent contrarian plays allowed him to dominate the field as he led the 2nd place finish by over 16 points!
Single-Entry vs. dandydon/escot4/papagates
