Giants vs. Steelers Same Game Parlay Preview
DraftKings Sportsbook offers Pittsburgh as a six-point home favorite as of Monday morning. The implied game total is 36.5 points and boy is the sports betting action one-sided per ScoresAndOdds.
SAO reports that more than 95% of bets and money landed on the Pittsburgh moneyline, and more than 80% of betting action chose the Steelers’ side of the spread. The overwhelming majority of action on the total likes the over. We might conclude that everybody with interest in this game likes the Steelers to win and win big. After last week, we might be challenged to offer a counterargument.
The Steelers were taken to task by many (myself included) for the abrupt change to Russell Wilson at quarterback. Justin Fields led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record, and even the broadcasters struggled to make sense of the move. Wilson started slowly against a strong Jets’ passing defense but turned the clock back in the second half. 37 points later – Mike Tomlin looks like a genius.
Wilson added a downfield passing component that George Pickens drafters salivated for. The uber-talented, athletic Pickens made plays down the field that were not available with Justin Fields manning the reins. While we don’t want to overreact after one game, Russell Wilson played well enough to make the switch at quarterback seem like a great move as Pittsburgh fights for a division title.
The downfield passing attack opened up the rushing game as Najee Harris scampered to a 100-yard rushing game with 21 carries. The Jets continue to struggle against opposing rushing attacks, and Harris averaged nearly 5 yards per attempt. In 2024, no team allows more yards per rushing attempt (5.4) than the New York Giants. Saquon Barkley shredded New York last weekend with big run after big run. The Steelers won’t have any reason to play too aggressively if the ground game and defense can control the script.
The New York defense looked very pedestrian against Philadelphia. Despite a strong pass rush throughout the season, the defense was gashed by Philadelphia. Mike Tomlin and his staff will have reviewed the tape and know that the Pittsburgh defense can control this contest. Pickens broke out last week, but I don’t think Pittsburgh will need to force-feed targets to their star throughout the game. Instead, Pickens will see some long targets to help open up rushing lanes for Harris and company.
The Giants offense is dreadful. Ranked 30th in yards per play, Daniel Jones was benched late against Philadelphia in the blowout. Jones will start, but who knows how long his leash will be, depending on the flow of the game. Identifying a positive prop or over for a Giants player will be very tricky.
For injuries, Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns were removed from the injury report and will play. Adoree Jackson will not play for the Giants. For Pittsburgh, Roman Wilson and Cordarrelle Patterson won’t suit up on.
Let’s build our game game parlay for Monday Night Football.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Giants vs. Steelers
- Pittsburgh -6
- Najee Harris Over 15.5 Rushing Attempts
- Wan’Dale Robinson Over 4.5 Receptions
Pittsburgh -6
I am not going to waste any time setting the stage with my first selection. Personally, I concur with everything ScoresandOdds reported about the betting action. The Steelers are going to smash the Giants at home. With a grip on the AFC North at stake, I can’t imagine a world where Mike Tomlin doesn’t have his team ready to get the job done.
Pittsburgh possesses the 2nd-ranked scoring defense in the league and ranks in the top 10 in yards per play on defense. The pass rush has not been as stout this season but is markedly better at home. With the terrible towels waving, this is going to be a tough environment for Daniel Jones and his playmakers.
Prediction for tonight? Pain… for the Giants.
Najee Harris Over 15.5 Rushing Attempts
Harris has 17 or more carries in all but one of the Steelers’ victories. The identity of the Steelers is very straightforward. Control the game. Let the defense take over. Especially at home, the Steelers want to make the game a mess for their opponents.
Harris is very underrated or, perhaps, accurately rated. He is not as explosive as some of the top backs in the league, but he is consistent. He is going to get your 4 yards each carry, and he is going to protect the football. Harris has not fumbled the football in 2024.
Mike Tomlin might not call the offensive plays, but he sets the tone. He is going to demand that the Steelers run the football even if Russell Wilson opens up the playbook downfield. Don’t be surprised to see Harris go north of 20 carries.
Wan’Dale Robinson Over 4.5 Receptions
Somebody has to move forward for the Giants, right? Right?
I am not sure. However, if the Steelers are ahead, as per my game script, I think we must plan for the Giants to throw a lot. If Jones is under duress, anticipate short, quick throws.
Enter Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson is a relevant fantasy starter because of his target share. Even with Malik Nabers back in the fold, Robinson is going to get his fair share of short targets underneath. We might not see many yards, but short catches fit this script.
