Primetime Parlay: Jets vs. Browns Same Game Parlay Picks
Thursday night brings an AFC matchup between the Jets and the Browns. We build a same-game parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook for this matchup.
The final Thursday Night Football game features the New York Jets traveling to Cleveland to face the playoff-likely Cleveland Browns. The Jets, eliminated from the playoffs, play out the final two games in more disarray than ever. With injuries piling up and underwhelming performances scattered all over the schedule, the Jets will look to retool. Despite injuries to Nick Chubb and Deshaun Watson, the Browns look poised for a playoff run with… Joe Flacco at quarterback. In what must be a painful watch for the Jets, the veteran quarterback signed with the Browns and is putting together a great performance after a great performance.
The Jets’ passing defense is excellent and this should be Flacco’s toughest test since his return. Will the Browns lock up their playoff spot? Let’s build a same-game parlay ticket to sweat along with Thursday night’s action.
Jets vs. Browns Same Game Parlay Preview
The Browns are 7.5-point home favorites as of this writing on FanDuel Sportsbook. With nothing to play for and the Browns looking to lock up their playoff spot, it’s easy to see why we see such a large spread. Per ScoresAndOdds, 69% of bets found the Browns’ side for this game while 56% of betting handle agreed.
The implied game total is 34.5 points. Given the quality of both defenses, we should not be shocked by such a low number. The Jets feature one of the worst offenses in the NFL while both defenses are high-performing — especially against the pass. 72% of money bet on this total came in on the under throughout the week.
The Browns list Amari Cooper as questionable for this contest after Cooper gathered 265 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 16. Dustin Hopkins is out. The Browns elevated Riley Patterson from the practice squad. Finally, Kareem Hunt was limited in practice with his groin injury but should play tonight. Dorian Thompson-Robinson was placed on injured reserve.
For the Jets, Zach Wilson remains out. Trevor Siemian will get another start as the Jets hope to muster anything resembling offense on Thursday night. The Jets were beating the Commanders down this past Sunday before almost blowing a twenty-point lead. Just end the season, indeed.
The Browns are known for one of the best defenses in the league but continue to put points up on the board on the offensive end. The Browns are top ten in scoring and have scored 29.0 PPG over the last few weeks with Joe Flacco under center. While the Jets’ defense is strong, the Browns have a new downfield dynamic with Flacco at quarterback.
The Jets are wildly ineffective on offense and will struggle against a top-five passing defense. Cleveland is fourth in sack rate. Myles Garrett will likely be a handful for an offensive line that just placed Duane Brown on injured reserve. The Jets’ offensive line has been a mess all season. Trevor Siemian will be running for his life on Thursday night.
So, the question is, can the Jets muster up anything to close the season? This game feels very much like a Browns runaway. Let’s build a ticket to make a game that might not be too exciting a bit more entertaining.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Jets at Browns
- Browns -7.5
- Hall Over 33.5 Receiving Yards
- Gipson Under 17.5 Receiving Yards
Browns -7.5
While this is an ugly spread, I just can’t fathom a world where the Jets can do anything on the road in Cleveland on Thursday night. Without any turnovers, possibly going for six, how does Trevor Siemian score against the Browns?
While this season has brought plenty of surprises, I don’t think we are surprised here. I think the dominant team featuring a dominant defense at home runs away with this game. If the Browns can get ahead, we could see plenty of Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt to salt the game away. Joe Flacco poses enough of a threat downfield to open up running lanes for the Browns’ running game.
I don’t think this game is competitive.
Breece Hall Over 33.5 Receiving Yards
While the Jets will struggle to compete, I do think they find a way to get the ball in their best athletes’ hands. Breece Hall exploded against Washington last week for nearly 200 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.
96 of those scrimmage yards game through the air. Hall saw 16 targets from Trevor Siemian — converting 12 for 96 yards. Will he replicate this performance against Cleveland? No way. Will he be targeted heavily? Likely.
Hall doesn’t need 12 targets to accumulate 34 receiving yards. The sophomore back has several big plays on the season and has the upside to hit this prop very early.
Xavier Gipson Under 17.5 Receiving Yards
Xavier Gipson is rarely a big part of the Jets’ offensive game plan. Occasionally, Gipson will take a jet sweep or a short pass to try and get the explosive playmaker in space. That said, I don’t see many paths for Gipson to be involved.
Gipson saw two targets and gained one receiving yard against the worst passing defense in the NFL. Barring a well-scripted play, I don’t know how he goes over this number.
Jets vs. Browns Parlay Odds
- Browns -7.5
- Breece Hall Over 33.5 Receiving Yards
- Xavier Gipson Under 17.5 Receiving Yards
