KillaB's Week 9 Lineup Walkthrough: DraftDay & DraftStreet
#2 Ranked (NFL Seasonal GLB), KillaB2482, walks you through his actual DraftDay & DraftStreet lineups used this week and his thoughts behind them.
Starting Quarterback
Cam Newton – The notoriously slow starter seems to have hit his stride. Cam gets another plus matchup against Atlanta this week. Averaging 28 points per game over the last 3 weeks it was tough to turn down his price.
Practice Squad Quarterback (Considered Starting)
Robert Griffin III – I was burned by him last week but he gets another great matchup against the Sand Diego defense who allows the 2nd most points to QBs. I had the money to spend on Cam otherwise I would’ve gone with RG3.
Starting Running Back
Ray Rice – Why wouldn’t I go with one of the biggest Zombies in fantasy football at the halfway mark?!? The price was impossible to turn down. Consider one of the top 3 RBs a couple years ago seems to have fell to mediocrity. Fresh legs, coming off bye, with a good price and matchup I couldn’t say no.
LeSean McCoy – McCoy doesn’t have the best matchup this week but I have a feeling the Eagles will rely heavily on him with Foles starting at QB. McCoy’s price has dropped on Draftday for me to get over his mediocre matchup. I think Foles leans on McCoy heavily in the passing game which favors the full point PPR on Draftday.
Practice Squad Running Back (Considered Starting)
Eddie Lacy – Lacy’s price is starting to rise on Draftday and for good reason. The Packers have relied heavily on him in all facets of the offense. The Chicago D isn’t the shutdown defense it once was especially stopping the run. I could see another heavy dose of Mr. Lacy again this week.
Starting Wide Receiver
Steve Smith – Typical boom or bust wide receiver but the price and matchup were too good to pass up this week. Atlanta is allowing the 4th most points to WR’s and it seems like this is the week he should get one of his long TD receptions.
Pierre Garcon – Another guy that burned me last week. Yes, he had 7 receptions and 11 targets but only 46 total yards. San Diego allows the 5th most points to WRs compile that with Garcon calling out his QB this week, I think the combo makes up for last week’s dud.
DeSean Jackson – The combination of a decent price with a decent matchup sold me on this play. Jackson gets Foles back this week which is more favorable than Matt Barkley throwing to him. I expect Jackson to get plenty of targets this week.
Practice Squad Wide Receiver (Considered Starting)
Harry Douglas – Everyone thought Tony Gonzalez would be the beneficiary of Julio and Roddy injuries. Did anyone notice Harry Douglas ’s past two weeks? Stat line – 7-149-1 and 12-121 (18 targets). It is hard to argue those numbers even with a less than favorable matchup. The price was intriguing but I couldn’t fit him in considering the other must plays.
Antonio Brown – On pace to catch 128 balls this season yet he has a middle tier price for wide receivers. Big Ben targets him plenty but felt the money could be spent better elsewhere.
Starting Tight End
Antonio Gates – With Keenan Allen ’s emergence Gates has put up two less than stellar performances. Washington allows the 12th most points to tight ends. I don’t trust San Diego’s running game and feel Rivers will have to pass plenty to move the ball. Coming off a bye week and a decent matchup, I think Gates gets his legs back under him with a good performance.
Practice Squad Tight End (Considered Starting)
Jordan Reed – I couldn’t pull the trigger on Reed this week. He goes against one of the better defenses against TE’s. Reed seems to be another one of those tight ends that is matchup proof. I think I am going to regret trying to fade this play.
Starting Defense
Seattle – At home…enough said! Add in the fact that it is Tampa Bay coming to Seattle and it is worth every penny this week.
Practice Squad Defense (Considered Starting)
Cowboys – I think the Cowboys D is a good play this week if you need to save a little money. Christian Ponder has proven he is not a starting QB in the NFL. I fully expect the Cowboys to stack 8 in the box to shutdown AP and make Ponder beat them. I envision a defensive TD with a couple sacks.
Draftstreet Starting Lineup
Starting Quarterback
Tony Romo – This seems to be the no-brainer play of the weekend. The Vikings allow the 6th most points to QB’s and are without their top 3 defensive backs. Romo is coming off a tough loss where he was embarrassed by his own WR on the sideline. The stars seem to be aligning with this matchup. If you have the money spend it on Romo.
Robert Griffin III – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Practice Squad Quarterback (Considered Starting)
Nick Foles – He has a very generous salary for a starting QB with an Ok matchup. If you need to save money I think Foles is worth a look.
Starting Running Back
Shonn Greene – I decided to go really cheap with one of my running back plays which allows me to go after some of the top tier RB’s and WR’s. All reports say he will be splitting time with Chris Johnson. For a running back to get 10-15 carries and handle all goal line carries, the price seems too good to be true.
Eddie Lacy – Lacy’s price is starting to rise on all sites and for good reason. The Packers have relied heavily on him in all facets of the offense. The Chicago D isn’t the shutdown defense it once was especially stopping the run. I am hoping for another heavy dose of Mr. Lacy again this week.
LeSean McCoy – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Giovanni Bernard – Gio goes against the 4th worst defense against RB’s. He has struggled the past couple games so his price has dropped a bit. I think he is in store for a big game if the Bengals can get him out into space.
Practice Squad Running Back (Considered Starting)
Demarco Murray – My only concerns, is he healthy and will he get 90% of the workload? He faces the worst defense against running backs and his price is very intriguing.
Starting Wide Receiver
Dez Bryant – Mr. Romo better get him the ball otherwise we may see a bloodbath on the sideline. If you can afford him, get him in your lineups. He is due for a monster game after his blowup last week. LET ME REPEAT, the 3 top defensive backs are out for the Vikings.
Pierre Garcon – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Practice Squad Wide Receiver (Considered Starting)
Harry Douglas – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Antonio Brown – A guy that has seemed to fly under the radar this year due to his team’s record. Crazy to think Brown is on pace to catch 128 balls this season. Big Ben targets him plenty but felt the money could be spent better elsewhere.
Starting Tight End
Antonio Gates – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Practice Squad Tight End (Considered Starting)
Jordan Reed – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
Starting Defense
Houston – I am taking a bit of a flyer on defense. The Texans are at home and the defense hasn’t played terrible this year. Unfortunately, their quarterbacks have been putting the defense in bad spots all season. As a University of Wisconsin alum, I am looking for a big game from JJ Watt.
Practice Squad Defense (Considered Starting)
Cowboys – See comments above in DraftDay Lineup Analysis
