MLB Big Events: DirtyGirl15 Secures Another Atlantis Seat

We’re in the dog days of summer and football is right around the corner, but the MLB madness is far from over! Both DraftKings and FanDuel ran qualifiers for their end-of-season championships, and the $100K Super Strikeout was a very cost-efficient way to take a shot at a big GPP ($25 buy-in). The DraftKings qualifier (refreshingly) paid out cash instead of tickets to the 2nd-62nd finishers, and cost $200 to enter (one of the lower Q buy-in levels available). Several familiar names were at the top of these leaderboards, so let’s get into the tournament breakdowns..

DraftKings $100K Special FBC Qualifier #28

Another day, another DraftKings FBC seat for DirtyGirl15. He’s now secured three entries into this tournament and has to be one of the favorites to take it down. Out of the 555 entries submitted, his was the only one to exceed 180 FP’s, and he nearly hit the 210 mark. Alex Cobb and Jeff Samardzija combined for over 57 FP’s, but the big reason he was so far out in front was a 48 FP game from none other then J.P. Arencibia. He’s good a game like this once or twice a year, and was owned by just 0.9% of the field. 32 FP’s from Jose Abreu (2.2% owned) and 22 from Elvis Andrus (1.1% owned) was enough to catapult him to the top of the leaderboard. SamENole had entries in 4th and 5th place, and caught the big game from Arencibia on both of those teams. e4e5nf3nc6 is probably the strangest username I’ve spotted in quite awhile, but he was able to put together a top-ten finish along with McJester and ThaDongslayer (aka WhiskeyTavon4).

FanDuel $535 Qualifier

Ganondorf put together the best finish of any of the RG members in the field, finishing just over 2 FP’s out of 1st place. He still received a nice $3,000 as a consolation, but could have earned the DFBC entry if Tyson Ross didn’t pick up the win in the STL/SD game. Both entries ahead of him needed the 4 points from Ross at the end of the night to pass Ganondorf, and the Padres were (unfortunately) able to push a run across just before Ross was replaced on the mound. Trentsteele, CSURAM88 and cornfins all registered top-ten finishes.

FanDuel $100K Super Strikeout

This was a really nice offering from FanDuel, which allowed smaller bankroll players to take a chance at a big prize pool. When you see the total prizes get into six figures, it’s rare that you can gain entry for as little as $25, especially this late in the season. Our very own stlcardinals84 topped the RG members with his 2nd place finish, thanks to huge nights from Cole Hamels, Matt Kemp and the Yankees offense. He would have taken this thing down if it weren’t for J.P Arencibia’s explosion, as there was a 20 FP difference between his catcher (Brian McCann, 0 FP’s) and Arencibia, who was rostered by the winner of the Super Strikeout. Mtray1911 finished in 4th place with double-digit FP performances from Hamels, Brett Gardner, Mark Teixeira and Emilio Bonifacio. If Adrian Beltre had been able to come through with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th last night, he could have jumped into the top two or three. Purefilth (aka vegas422 on RG) and johnnyvanoss also finished in the top-ten.
