MLB Daily Grind Down: April 13th Night Games

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.
I hope your day games are going well but the night games are where the real action happens. Tonight’s games seem headed for offense as most of the best pitchers threw earlier this morning. There are many juicy matchups to exploit. Paul Goldschmidt faces a lefty at home, two big pluses in his favor. I make him my player of the day because I do not plan on using him tonight and I hope the Grind Down curse takes full effect on him.
Sorry Charlie, you have to use every angle you can to win at Daily Fantasy.
On another note he looks like Ryan Reynolds in that photo.

Pitchers
- Vegas has the OU line for this game set at a very low 7 with CIN favored at -148. Johnny Cueto takes the hill pitching well in his first 2 outings. His road ERA is a very nice 2.77 and he faces a PIT team batting .214 vs. him and .175 on the season. Target
- There is not much data out on the young left-hander, Jeff Locke. His K/9 total was over 8 in his few starts last year. He pitched well at home. He could be a nice sleeper pick at pitcher if the price is right and the OU is set a 7 so Vegas likes him to perform. Target
Batters
- Brandon Phillips had a hot night yesterday. I like him again today. I do not need to remind you how hot Shin-Soo Choo has been. I also like Todd Frazier who has 1 hit in 2 AB vs. Locke.
- If you are looking for a sleeper, Pedro Alvarez and Garrett Jones have nice BvPs versus Cueto. Both are capable of going yard.

Pitchers
- Vegas has the OU line set at 7 with PHI favored at -148. That is a strong endorsement for Cole Hamels. Hamels has been far from perfect in his first two outings but he catches a MIA team batting only .209 on the season. Target
- Jose Fernandez looked dominate in his first outing. This will only be his second major league start so there is not any data out on him. If his price has not jumped up to much on your site then he has great GPP upside and his facing a struggling pitcher. Target
Batters
- Michael Young, Chase Utley, and Jimmy Rollins have been the Phillies’ hottest bats. I also like Ryan Howard facing the right-hander. His stroke is coming around.
- Placido Polanco has been the one Marlin producing. Greg Dobbs and Donovan Solano have positive BvPs. If Hamels struggles with his control, the Marlins could offer some great value tonight. The team is batting .278 vs. him.

Pitchers
- Vegas has the OU for this game set at 7.5 and KC favored at -114. James Shields gave up 4 ER in his last outing but managed to get the win. He faces a TOR team that he has held to .252 BAA who will be without their hottest player, Jose Reyes. It could be risky but Target
- As bad as R.A. Dickey first start was, his second start was much worse. He had positive projections in both of those. If his price has dropped he could be worth a gamble but I do not trust him tonight vs. a KC team that is batting .269 on the season. Avoid
Batters
- Alex Gordon has been on fire and he draws the nice lefty/righty matchup. I recommend loading up on the left-handers here. Dickey has been struggling and KC bats have been hot. Billy Buttler, a righty, has a hit in his only AB vs. Dickey.
- Jose Bautista and Colby Rasmus have the best BvPs versus Shields. Adam Lind has 5 HRs versus him. The hot J.P. Arencibia has 2 HR vs. him in 14 AB.
