Pitcher Grind Down
- Travis Wood – Wood keeps pitching well despite the doubters. I don’t like the matchup against the Cardinals though and I don’t think he will receive much run support. The Cardinals hit lefties well and should knock him around a bit. Rating = 4
- Lance Lynn – After a rough night for St. Louis’ NFL team, the Cardinals will try to get the city back on the right track. Lynn has pitched well at home with a 3.00 ERA on the season. He draws a very favorable matchup against the Cubs and the Cardinals are still playing for that 1 seed. Lynn is a nice option tonight. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
CHC – Lynn has owned the Cubs, all except for Wellinton Castillo who is 4/6 with a HR. That sample is too small for me to put any stock into though. Take Lynn and take the easy win.
STL – If Yadier Molina is in the lineup, he makes a great play at catcher if you want to spend. He already has 3 HR’s off of Wood and has been crushing lefties all season long. I also like both Matt Holliday and David Freese.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Stephen Strasburg – A pitcher as good as Strasburg should not have the struggles that he does on the road. His ERA on the road is almost 3 times that of his ERA at home. With so many other great pitching options, I’m not going to risk taking Strasburg against the D-Backs. Rating = 5
- Patrick Corbin – Corbin has pitched well at home all season, except for his last start against the Dodgers. September has been a tough month for Corbin and I lump him in with Strasburg as a good pitcher, but there are better options. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
WAS – Corbin has been very good against lefties this season so if you are taking any Nats hitters, take one that bats from the right side. Either Jayson Werth, Wilson Ramos, or Ian Desmond.
ARI – The D-Backs play well at home and have quite a few bats to choose from. I don’t think they will put up a huge number against Strasburg, but they should string together a few hits and score a couple runs.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Collin McHugh – McHugh has scored negative fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 starts. The Dodgers may be locked into their seed, but I’m not taking McHugh even if the Dodgers have all backups in their lineup. Rating = 1
- Clayton Kershaw – The Dodgers have the division and the 3 seed locked up. They really have nothing to play for at this point other than just staying sharp. I’m not sure what their plan is with Kershaw tonight, but my guess would be that they don’t let him pitch more than 6-7 innings. Health is way more important than a meaningless win. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
COL – The Rockies are facing Kershaw in his element. There is no reason you should be looking at them as a viable fantasy option tonight.
LAD – There is certainly some fantasy value with the Dodgers bats tonight, but it will all depend on their lineup. Before you put any of them on your roster, make sure they are in the lineup. Great matchup against McHugh though.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Bartolo Colon – Colon has had an up and down season. While he has had 3 dominant starts in a row, I would much rather take a pitcher that I can trust to pitch well. Colon lost that for me a while ago. Rating = 5
- Felix Hernandez – King Felix will look to end his season on a high note. He’s thrown two shutouts against this A’s team this season and makes a nice GPP play. I don’t love the matchup, but how can you count out King Felix at home where he has been almost unhittable in his career? Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
OAK – Kurt Suzuki has surprisingly good numbers against Felix, but I’m not buying him as a solid option tonight. We’ve covered the teams that have good matchups and the A’s are not one of those teams.
SEA – If you are going to target any M’s bats, Brad Miller, Kyle Seager, and Michael Saudners will all have the lefty/righty matchup against Colon.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Burch Smith – Burch is a wild card tonight. If you want to get risky, Burch is the way to go. He has a very high K rate of 11 per 9 innings, but also has the potential to get blown up. He’s a dynamic young right hand pitcher with a pretty decent matchup against the Giants in this pitcher friendly park. Rating = 5
- Ryan Vogelsong – Vogelsong came off the DL and picked up right where he left off, giving up a ton of hits and earned runs. Even against the Padres, he’s not a recommended fantasy option tonight. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
SD – Padres are in a good spot against Vogelsong, but as a team they don’t hit right hand pitching very well. Luckily for us, we don’t have to worry about the team. My favorite hitter here is leadoff man Will Venable who has the lefty/righty matchup.
SF – Burch’s start could go either way. The Giants could be sneaky team to stack or Burch could be a sneaky pitcher to take. I think in H2H and 50/50 games you should stay away from both.
