MLB Daily Grind Down May 11th Night Games

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.
Writing the Daily Grind Down Saturday mornings is probably the hardest day of the week but Saturdays are probably the most fun for me to play. We are half way into another great day. I hope your early action is going well but the night time is where all the real money is made. Here is the second half of todays Daily Grind down to get you up to speed on tonight’s action.

Las Vegas
- OU 8
- Favored TAM -144
Pitchers
- Home Jeremy Hellickson was a matchup play when he was pitching well. He is not pitching well to start the season. He catches an easy draw to day in SDG an gets his fair share of Ks. SDG is batting .233 on the road, .245 versus right-handers, and .23 over the last 7 days. In Play
- Away Burch Smith is a huge GPP gamble. If he is listed on your site then he will be super cheap which means he has GPP upside. He is not all that impressive of a minor league pitcher so understand that this is a gamble but we have seen it happen before so he is in play because of his price. In Play
Batters
- Home I am going to go on record as saying that Burch gets hit hard in this start so to me that puts everyone in play. Gentlemen start your TAM stacks.
- Away Outside of Yonder Alonso and Will Venable I am not considering anyone from this SDG offense that is simply not producing. Venable has been red hot scoring 31 fp over the last 7 days.

| Ubaldo Jimenez – (2-2), 6.37 ERA, 8.32 K/9, 1.31 WHIP | Justin Verlander – (4-2), 1.55 ERA, 9.76 K/9, 1.1 WHIP | ||||||

CLE BvP | CLE vs R | DET BvP | DET vs R | ||||

Las Vegas
- OU 7.5
- Favored DET -240
Pitchers
- Home Justin Verlander takes the hill as the ridiculous favorite today. Vegas thinks it would take an act of God to stop him from getting the win today. As hot as CLE has been hitting, I am not sure I agree with them. For his price, you need a shut down performance from Verlander today so you have to ask yourself if it is worth the gamble. CLE is batting .275 on the road, .266 versus right-handers, and .265 over the last 7 days with 13 HRs In Play
- Away Ubaldo Jimenez has been great in his last 2 going 12.2 IP with 2 ER and 12 Ks. He really has only had 2 bad starts on the year and they came at home. I cannot recommend him as a fade play today versus the juggernaut that is DET LU but keep him in mind down the road because he is producing. DET is batting .322 at home, .289 versus right-handers, and .322 over the last 7 days. Avoid
Batters
- Home Pick your Poison with DET. They are all producing and have good BvPs or splits for today. Miguel Cabrera numbers are the most impressive. Imagine that.
- Away Daily Fantasy is about what numbers you want to believe. Jason Kipnis, Nick Swisher, Absudrubal Cabrera, Carlos Santana, and Mark Reynolds have all been hot and this offense is really clicking right now. Jason Giambi, Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall have positive BvPs versus Verlander.
Baltimore at Minnesota

BAL BvP | BAL vs R | MIN BvP | MIN vs R | ||||
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 8.5
- Favored BAL -110
Pitchers
- Home Vance Worley is a bad pitcher who does not get Ks. BAL is an explosive offense. You do the math. BAL is batting .268 on the road, .274 versus right-handed pitching, and .254 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Steve Johnson is a better than K per inning player if you want to gamble on a very cheap option. This is his first start of the season but his brief time in the majors have been productive. MIN is batting.258 at home, .240 versus right-handers, and .263 over the last 7 days. In Play
Batters
- Home Joe Mauer gets the splits in his favor today and has been very hot producing 35 fp over the last week. Oswaldo Arcia is a nice cheap left-handed bat who is producing. Trevor Plouffe has ben hot as of late also.
- Away Gentleman start your BAL stacks. Manny Machado and J.J. Hardy have been noticeably hot.
NY Yankees at Kansas City
| NY Yankees | Kansas City | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kauffman Stadium | 7:10 PM | ||||||
| Andy Pettitte – (3-2), 4.06 ERA, 6.53 K/9, 1.35 WHIP | James Shields – (2-2), 2.52 ERA, 8.64 K/9, 0.96 WHIP | ||||||
| PvB | (24-84 H/AB) 0.286 BA-A, 22.62 K%, 0.833 OPS-A | PvB | (153-588 H/AB) 0.26 BA-A, 21.26 K%, 0.743 OPS-A | ||||
| ROAD | (2-1), 2.66 ERA, 3 HRA, 8.4 K/9, 1.131 WHIP | HOME | (1-1), 1.88 ERA, 2 HRA, 8.3 K/9, 0.625 WHIP | ||||

NYY BvP | NYY vs R | KCR BvP | KCR vs L | ||||
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 7.5
- Favored KAN -138
Pitchers
- Home James Shield draws a tough assignment today but has been pitching too good to not at least consider. He has been great at home but most of the Yankees have scary good numbers versus him. NYY is batting .258 on the road, .278 versus right-handers, and .234 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Andy Pettitte has been shaky in his last two but has been pretty solid on the year. KAN has had success versus him in the past and his diminishing K/9 totals make him unplayable except as a matchup play. KAN is batting .267 at home, .296 versus left-handers, and .242 over the last 7 days. Avoid
Batters
- Home Billy Butler and Jeff Francoeur both have the splits in their favor and they have nice BvPs versus Pettitte. Alex Gordan has been super hot and is in play today also.
- Away Lyle Overbay has been hot producing 25 fp over the last 7 days. He is 12-41 versus Shields with 3 HRs. Robinson Cano is 31-75 with 4 HRs. Ichiro Suzuki, Ben Francisco, Jason Nix and Eduardo Nunez have positive BvPs also. Travis Hafner is hitting right-handed pitching very well.
