Pitcher Grind Down
- Esmil Rogers – Rogers can have a good start every once in a while, but for the most part he is a pitcher that you would rather take hitters against. The Orioles hit the ball well at home and I think Rogers will struggle. Not only do I not like Rogers, but I am calling for a Chris Davis dong! Rating = 2
- Bud Norris – Norris has not pitched well in Camden Yards since coming over from the Astros. In 4 starts there, he has an ERA over 7. He’s not a recommended fantasy option even against the short handed Blue Jays. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
TOR – This game is going to be all about the hitting. Norris is giving up a .307 batting average to lefties so try to target Adam Lind and Anthony Gose.
BAL – Rogers also struggles with left handed bats. He is giving up a .292 batting average to lefties. I like Nate McLouth and Nick Markakis, but like I said earlier, I’m calling a HR for Chris Davis today.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Dylan Axelrod – Axelrod has been awful on the road this season. He has an ERA over 7 and is facing an Indians team that is in a must win situation. Things are not looking good for his fantasy output tonight. Rating = 2
- Danny Salazar – Salazar has been very good for the Indians. He has a 3.09 ERA and an incredible K rate of 11 per 9 innings. I don’t think that K rate will hold up over the long run, but right now he is dealing. He is one of my favorite pitchers of the day. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
CWS – I’m really not too high on this White Sox lineup, I think they will struggle against Salazar just like they did last time they faced him.
CLE – Lot of Indians in play today. If you want to go in favor of the lefty/righty splits you can look at guys like Michael Bourn, Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, and Michael Brantley.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Cole Hamels – Hamels got off to a rough start in his last outing, but other than that he has really been pitching well. I love the matchup against the Marlins in that big Marlins Park. I think he will pitch at least 7 strong innings and strike out at least 6 batters. Rating = 9
- Brad Hand – Hand is a below average lefty that is making a spot start. While the Phillies aren’t great against lefties, I don’t see Hand pitching long enough to be of any fantasy value. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
PHI – Carlos Ruiz and Jimmy Rollins are both pretty decent options against lefties, but I don’t think you have to worry too much about the righty/lefty splits because I don’t think Hand will pitch very deep into this game.
MIA – Giancarlo Stanton hits lefties well but I’m on the side of the Phillies pitcher in this one.

MIL vs L | MIL BvP | ATL vs R | ATL BvP
Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Lohse – Lohse has only had two good starts out of his last five and with only a few days left in the MLB season, you don’t want to be taking too many risks. Take the smart plays and end the season on a high note. Rating = 4
- Paul Maholm – Maholm pitches well at home, but I really don’t like his matchup against the Brewers. They have quite a few bats that hit lefties well and Maholm hasn’t been very sharp since the All-Star break. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
MIL – Carlos Gomez, Aramis Ramirez, and Jonathan Lucroy all hit lefties well. I don’t think too many people will be playing Brewers tonight so it could be a nice little mini-stack in a GPP.
ATL – The Braves will likely be mixing their lineup around as they get ready for the playoffs so check their lineup before making any roster decisions. I like the lefty/righty matchup for Freddie Freeman, but make sure he is in the lineup.

HOU vs L | HOU BvP | TEX vs L | TEX BvP
Pitcher Grind Down
- Dallas Keuchel – Keuchel has actually had a few decent starts lately, but you can throw those out the window because he is facing a tough Rangers team that is in must win mode. Not only that, but he is facing them in Rangers Ballpark which is one of the most hitter friendly parks in baseball. Rating = 1
- Martin Perez – This is a big start for Perez. The Rangers are still a game out of the Wild Card and can’t afford to lose any more games. That’s a lot of pressure for a young pitcher. Something tells me that he is going to struggle a bit. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
HOU – Jonathan Villar, Jose Altuve, and Chris Carter all hit lefties well and aren’t bad options against Perez who just hasn’t pitched that well over his last few starts.
TEX – It would be easy to say get all of the right hand bats of the Rangers in your lineup, but even the lefties are in play as Keuchel is allowing lefties to hit for a .290 batting average. All batters are in play so take a look at the salaries and find the best value plays.
