MLB DFS - Million Dollar Musings - Friday, September 4th
Happy Friday! We’ve got a 9-game main slate tonight to focus on, but there’s also an earlier 4-game slate starting at 4:05 pm ET. Let’s take a quick peek at that early slate to kick things off, and then I’ll be back early this afternoon with the main slate analysis.
Early Slate Pitching

Luis Castillo is the clear ace of the early slate, and will project for almost twice as many points as the next closest pitcher. While he hasn’t been consistently lights-out this season, he has far better skills than anyone else on this slate, on top of having the best matchup on the slate. He’s up at a 31% strikeout rate this season, with his ground balls up over 50% to both sides of the plate. Against a Pirates team ranking dead last in the league against righties in ISO and wOBA, I can’t make any reasonable case to fade Castillo on this slate in any format.
Sadly, we need a second pitcher on DK, though I’m going to email support and see if I can play Castillo twice. Tommy Milone, Alex Cobb and Tanner Roark are all over $8,000 and none of them are in good matchups. Goofy.
