Covering The Bases: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 6/3
Long-time grinder, Justin Van Zuiden (aka stlcardinals84), is here to cover the bases for the upcoming MLB DFS slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cards has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his favorite MLB DFS picks.
Happy Tuesday, Grinders! I’m in for Cheese today so that he can sing and dance and teach some music, which sounds like a grand time. I’ll have some ice cream in his honor after I finish writing. As for today’s baseball slate, we have a healthy 12-game slate that looks to be weighted heavily toward pitching, but there are plenty of question marks. This is perhaps the most challenging slate we have seen all season.
This looks to be a relatively quiet weather day, though we will have to monitor potential storms in Tampa and Chicago. Keep a close eye on our MLB weather page for updates as lineup lock gets closer. As always, in addition to this article, remember that we have you covered with tags and analysis in our MLB DFS optimizer.
Let’s dig in and see what this Tuesday night has to offer!

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
TOP TIER PITCHING
Carlos Rodon vs. Guardians
Freddy Peralta vs. Reds
Hunter Greene vs. Brewers
Pablo Lopez vs. Athletics
Cristopher Sanchez vs. Blue Jays
Spencer Strider vs. Diamondbacks
Take a deep breath before diving in, as we have a LOT of pitchers to discuss tonight. I also expect there to be some disagreement among experts today, as there are a lot of polarizing options available. It’s a good time for a reminder that the conclusions I draw are merely my opinions, and it’s totally fine if you disagree. The game of baseball is much more unpredictable than other sports, so we have to embrace variance sometimes! With that in mind, let’s start with a look at the 2025 data for tonight’s aces:
Rodon – 2.60 ERA, 3.06 xFIP, 31.7% K, 9.2% BB
Peralta – 2.77 ERA, 4.13 xFIP, 24.3% K, 9.6% BB
Greene – 2.63 ERA, 3.24 xFIP, 30.8% K, 5.1% BB
Lopez – 2.75 ERA, 3.36 xFIP, 25.2% K, 4.9% BB
Sanchez – 3.32 ERA, 2.98 xFIP, 27.6% K, 8.7% BB
Strider – 4.50 ERA, 4.82 xFIP, 25.0% K, 10.0% BB (14 innings)
The safest pitcher in this tier is going to be Carlos Rodon. If you are looking for a cash game SP1, he’s probably your man. The numbers have been steady all year, the strikeouts look legitimate at a 30% clip, and the blowup outings appear to be in the rearview mirror. While it’s not necessarily an “elite” matchup against the Guardians, the Guardians are all the way down to 24th in team wOBA against LHP in 2025, and they have been striking out a lot more than they did in recent seasons. The walks are a bit of a hiccup at times, but everyone in this tier has some sort of hiccup. Rodon is my cash game SP1 and my GPP SP2.
Who is the GPP SP1, you ask? For me, that is Hunter Greene. He looked like the best pitcher in baseball to start the season, but his results have lagged a bit in recent outings. However, his overall metrics really haven’t changed that much. He has simply been a bad luck victim more often of late. Greene still has a 2.63 ERA and 3.24 xFIP on the season to go along with a 31% strikeout rate and a 5% walk rate. Those are the same metrics he had when everyone wanted to target him as their SP1 a month ago. Now, very few people are going to play him as a result of the May game logs and a matchup against a Brewers team that has won 8 games in a row. I’ll gladly take this as an opportunity to build around Greene.
