MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, July 10

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Yordan Alvarez
ebeimfohr: Yordan Alvarez
boggslite: Yordan Alvarez
Dean78904: Gunnar Henderson (FD) / Michael Harris II (DK)

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I much prefer large-field tournaments tonight, as we have a very spread-out pool on both the pitching and hitting sides. I would have a very tough time narrowing down to 1-2 offenses for single-entry contests, and there are at least 5-6 pitchers that I want to get into my pool. While I’m going to be spread out, I am also going to completely cross more than half the offenses off my list, so while I have a big pool, I am not going to stray beyond it. I will for sure be underweight on Robbie Ray, and I’ll also be underweight on Chris Sale, leaning more to mid-tier pitching.

ebeimfohr: Some of my favorite spots for both hitting and pitching are a bit more off the beaten path than usual, so I love where that leads me in smaller-field tournaments. I don’t see any pitching or hitting spots as unfadeable, so I’ll be subscribing to Jordan Cooper’s “play whoever you want” with the top-projected options in our MLB DFS optimizer (LineupHQ) alongside my main stack and pitcher that should have lower ownership.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments - There are many ways to attack this slate, especially at SP, where there are elite aces up top and some nice value to consider. My preference is to pay up, especially on 2-pitcher sites, with my favorite combination being Nolan McLean and Parker Messick. Robbie Ray at home against the Rockies will likely be popular, but I only plan on using him if I absolutely need to, and I prefer fading him at his expected ownership. On the hitting side, my favorite targets are KC/BAL, LAA/MIN, HOU, and CIN.

Dean78904: This might be the most wide-open slate I can remember all season long from both a pitching and hitting perspective. That said, there is absolutely no must-have SPs or hitters for me, so if anything becomes super popular, I have no issue looking elsewhere. My pitching pool is bigger than usual, as Nolan McLean, Sean Burke, Parker Messick, Sonny Gray, and Sandy Alcantara all have their bathing suits on. I won’t rule out Robbie Ray, but I expect to leave him off my main team. I expect to not fully stack, and I anticipate something like a 3-3-1-1 type of iteration in my main lineup, picking players from the Braves, Orioles, Twins, White Sox, and Padres. As someone who focuses on making one main lineup for smaller-field contests, I’m probably going to flip-flop multiple times as the day progresses and we close in on lock. I wish I could be more helpful and narrow it down, but I just don’t have a clear and obvious path right now.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
