MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, July 26

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Gunnar Henderson
SquirrelPatrol: Aaron Judge
boggslite: Gunnar Henderson
ebeimfohr: Gunnar Henderson
Alex Sonty: Juan Soto

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Bobby Witt – This is one of those slates where we have a lot of elite spend-up bats that should be getting very little ownership. It’s not like Witt is off the radar, but Gunnar Henderson is the more obvious spend-up SS, and there are a lot of other places to spend salary. Kyle Hendricks just doesn’t have the stuff to get past a guy like Witt, and the moderate 47% ground-ball rate is no match for the massive hard-hit and fly-ball ability of Witt. Add in the stolen bases and strong hitters around him; he is a top-of-the-board play, as always.

SquirrelPatrol: Cal Raleigh – Somebody get this man out of T-Mobile Park. Raleigh is thankfully on the road today in Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, which makes him one of the best hitters in baseball this season. Raleigh has a SLG% nearly twice as high on the road (.558) than at home (.281) this year, and his ISO is over three times higher on the road (.325) than at home (.094), continuing his career trends. Raleigh fills a hard-to-fill spot on DraftKings and is affordable on both sites (particularly on FanDuel) because of his under-the-radar home/road splits.

boggslite: Gunnar Henderson – He is off to a slow start post-All-Star Break, but he put together an MVP-caliber first half for the Orioles. He has a great opportunity to get back on track facing a weak righty in Adam Mazur, who gives up plenty of hard contact and has managed to strike out just 13.1% of the left-handed hitters he has faced this season. Baltimore should put up plenty of runs; expect Henderson to play a major role in his team’s success tonight.

ebeimfohr: Lawrence Butler – I am not going to pretend this Butler heater will continue, but I’m happy to take the dive and find out. Butler is up to a .385 average with 7 HRs in July, which has coincided with a change in his batting stance and swing. Maybe it’s a flash in the pan, but given the park, matchup, and ownership, I’m happy to see if it’s real.

Alex Sonty: Juan SotoBrayan Bello is getting mashed by left-handed hitters, and Soto is crushing RHP. Bello has allowed an 8.9% barrel rate for a .228 ISO to left-handed hitters, while Soto has a 22.7% barrel rate on a 65.7% hard-hit rate for a .313 ISO against RHP. Guaranteed 9 innings of hitting, Soto is in a great spot on a slate where there aren’t too many pitchers to pick on. No knock on Gunnar Henderson, but Soto has more raw power, faces a pitcher with greater power struggles, and is on the road in a better ballpark.
