MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, May 24
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: J.T. Realmuto
TJ Zwarych: Shohei Ohtani (FD) / Mookie Betts (DK)
ebeimfohr: Shohei Ohtani
Alex Sonty: Mookie Betts
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: Early ownership projections are not showing extreme chalk for the Phillies in Coors Field. I certainly expect them to be quite popular in single-entry tournaments at least, but there is a ton of high-end offense to love, and with the salaries, I don’t think we have to fade the Phillies based on ownership alone. I will look to go well over the field on them in larger-field MME tournaments, while using more Dodgers, Red Sox, and Reds in single-entry, along with some cheaper things, like the Angels. On the pitching side, if it looks like Justin Verlander is heavy chalk, I will be fading him in favor of the other mid-tier pitchers, led by Christian Scott and also including Kutter Crawford, Carlos Rodon, and even down to Cristopher Sanchez.
TJ Zwarych: Since we’re likely going to be without Corbin Burnes and Shota Imanaga due to weather, the pitching pool is nowhere near as full of upside. I plan to be overweight on the pitchers in the mid-range, focusing on Christian Scott and Cristopher Sanchez as my top options alongside Zac Gallen. Those three will be my highest owned in MME by a fairly wide margin, but I also want to sprinkle in Kutter Crawford, Bailey Ober, and maybe even Kyle Harrison at low projected ownership.
ebeimfohr: Corbin Burnes projects well, and he had a great game last time out, but with the insane firepower at the top end of the hitting slate, I’m sticking to my favorite tactic of avoiding the extremely expensive arms in favor of the bats. We may have to go dumpster diving for some cheap pitching, which will feel uncomfortable being overweight on. But long term, I think we beat the field being heavier on offenses in these elite spots, like the Dodgers and Orioles, while lightening our load on a potentially chalky Burnes at an expensive price tag.
Alex Sonty: Despite Corbin Burnes and Zac Gallen in great spots, my pitching pool is gonna eliminate everyone over $9,500 on FD and $9,000 on DK to fit in full stacks of Orioles, Dodgers, and Phillies. I also seem to be a lot higher on Rangers and Twins bats than the field. Much higher.
