MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, May 8

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Juan Soto
ebeimfohr: Jarren Duran
boggslite: Pete Alonso
Dean78904: Juan Soto

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I prefer large-field tournaments on these slates where it’s hard to narrow down the player pool. In smaller-field contests, I’ll be a little more cautious with the chalky pitching combo of Dylan Cease / Robbie Ray, swapping to more of Chris Sale and Jacob Misiorowski in their tougher matchups, as well as Robby Snelling and Kris Bubic, just to name a few. I will be heavily invested in the Orioles even at high ownership, but after them, it is a spread-it-out kind of slate with offenses.

ebeimfohr: My favorite tactic on Robbie Ray chalk nights is to play smaller-field tournaments and pivot off of a very volatile pitcher at very high ownership. Tonight, there is an especially fun group of pitchers you can pivot to, many of which are far lower-owned with plenty of upside themselves. That will allow me to get the top bats of the slate with little concern over ownership.

boggslite: I’m playing a mixture of single-entry and large-field tournaments tonight. There are so many quality pitchers to choose from that I think ownership will be spread out. I prefer to target the matchups in these situations, which has me gravitating to Dylan Cease and Robbie Ray. I plan on stacking both sides of the ATH/BAL game and will also consider the Cubs and Mets in their matchups on the road.

Dean78904: I prefer single-entry and small-field tournaments. We have a massive 13-game slate, but outside of Baltimore, no team has a team total above 5.00, as there are no especially appealing hitting environments on the slate. It is not just the overall unappealing weather that is suppressing appealing offenses, but we have a plethora of elite arms to roster. Having said that, I’m prioritizing arms over bats and expect to roster two of Dylan Cease, Robbie Ray, Nolan McLean, Jacob Misiorowski, and Chris Sale in most, if not every, lineup I make on DK. If I must dip lower salary-wise, I’m willing to roster Robby Snelling or Parker Messick. I like Baltimore fine, and I expect to have some pieces, but if they are the most popular team, I don’t expect to have Orioles stacks.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
