MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, April 18
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
stlcardinals84: Freddie Freeman
Krayton: Shohei Ohtani
TJ Zwarych: Shohei Ohtani
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 10-15 entries in the larger-field contests. The basic tipping point on this slate is what you plan to do with the Dodgers. They are playing in Coors Field, they are projected for a pile of runs, and they’re going to be chalky. Baseball is a strange game, and I think I’m taking the game theory approach of going underweight on the Dodgers offense. In my GPP builds, I prefer going to more contrarian stacks tonight, like the Padres’ right-handed power against Yusei Kikuchi or the Cardinals against Lance McCullers. If the Dodgers go off, I’ll take my lumps, but I expect their ownership to be out of control on a 6-game slate.
Krayton: I will be playing single-entry and 20-max contests. I like saving some salary on pitching by going with Nathan Eovaldi on both sites. I like building around the Dodgers even though they will be chalk, but I’ll be getting a little different with my secondary stacks. The Diamondbacks are one of my favorite sneakier stacks on the slate and one of my favorite teams to target, especially on FanDuel where you can build a nice team with both the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field GPPs, and although I’m not fading the Dodgers in Coors, I’ll likely be a little underweight. Instead, I want to target the Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Angels, and Padres as my primary stacks to build around. On the pitching side, while I do like Cristopher Sanchez and Chris Sale, I’ll likely lean more toward Emmet Sheehan and Nathan Eovaldi to save a little salary.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author
Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
