What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20 entries in the large-field tournaments. I plan to be underweight on Sonny Gray and overweight on Dylan Cease as my SP1, which is a risk/reward move given that Cease is facing the Dodgers (though all the top pitchers have tough matchups tonight). Arizona is tough to ignore as the top stack, even as chalk in Coors Field. My favorite secondary stack will be the Astros, as I like the way their all-RH lineup matches up with Cade Povich.
Krayton: I will be playing both single-entry and 20-entry max contests. Zebby Matthews is a pitcher I will be very overweight on, and I will be locking him in on DK at just $6,700. The Diamondbacks haven’t done much in Coors Field so far, but I will be overweight on them (along with the Athletics), as the entire Coors game has a run total close to 12. I also like getting exposure to Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Jazz Chisholm, and Aaron Judge, as they are all facing good pitchers and should carry lower ownership.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field GPPs, and I plan on taking shots on a bunch of these cheap pitchers. I don’t feel confident in any of the options up top, so I’ll be playing a ton of Zebby Matthews, Luis Morales, Jason Alexander, Ryne Nelson, and Joey Wentz.
tcsmith031: Just a smattering of 20-max GPPs for me tonight. I’m going to force some Arizona stacks in order to lower my overall volatility, but I’m planning an underweight approach on the D-Backs in Coors again tonight. I think both sides of the LAA/ATH game look like intriguing alternatives that should attract lower ownership. I’m also interested in rolling the dice on the Dodgers in baseball’s best home run park just in case the wild version of Dylan Cease shows up.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
