What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 25 entries in the larger-field tournaments. This is one of my favorite GPP slates of the season. We have all sorts of different angles from both the pitching and offensive sides of the ledger. I am somewhat concerned about Tarik Skubal after he pitched the first complete game shutout of his career his last time out, and the Tigers might take it somewhat easy on his pitch count today. He’s very expensive, and I want to spend up for bats. That is going to lead me to being underweight on Skubal and overweight on the slightly cheaper aces like Kodai Senga, Spencer Schwellenbach, and Robbie Ray. For bats, I will be prioritizing stacks of the Mets, Guardians, and Orioles as my favorite offenses.

Krayton: I will be playing both single-entry contests along with 20-entry max on both sites. It’s a great slate with quite a few good pitching options. Kodai Senga is a pitcher I will be locking in on DK, as he gets the best possible matchup against the Rockies. Spencer Schwellenbach, Slade Cecconi, and Robbie Ray are other pitchers who will be in my pool. As far as stacks go, NYM, BAL, and ATL are the stacks I have great interest in.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 20-entry max contests instead of my usual 150-max. I plan to get overweight on Tarik Skubal and take advantage of some cheap high-end stacks like the Mets, Orioles, and Guardians to make it happen. I think paying up for both pitchers on DK is the way to go, pairing Skubal with Kodai Senga, Robbie Ray, Spencer Schwellenbach, or Sonny Gray while going cheap with the bats.

tcsmith031: It’ll be a mix of single-entry, 5-max, and 20-max for me. The Braves and Cardinals are projected to be among the chalkiest offenses, and I’ll be pretty heavily under the field on both on such a large slate. I’m much more afraid of being underweight on the great Tarik Skubal, but his cumbersome salary is difficult to justify on a slate with plenty of other high-upside pitchers available at more affordable price points. I’ll eat most of the pitching chalk and get different with bats instead.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
