What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20 entries in the larger-field tournaments. The Padres are going to be my top stack, but they will also likely be the most popular. I plan to be overweight on the Reds and underweight on the Astros as my conviction stances. I like the way a Reds stack comes together and allows you to get high-end pitching, and they fall into a nice matchup in a great hitting environment in Sacramento against Luis Severino.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing one lineup in single-entry contests. Although I think Woo and Cease are the clear cash game pairing, I’ll probably look to go elsewhere at pitcher. Logan Webb and the two Hunters (Greene and Brown) are my favorite pivots, but I don’t mind the idea of going cheaper with Jacob Misiorowski or all the way down to Ryne Nelson. I still may end up on Woo, but Cease is a clear fade for me at that projected ownership in tournaments.
tcsmith031: I’ll play a few single-entries along with a 20-max GPP. While they both project amazingly, I do think playing one of Dylan Cease or Bryan Woo rather than pairing them is a solid way to differentiate from the field, especially in single-entry. The slate features no shortage of high-upside alternatives. I’m also interested in taking an underweight approach with the Padres despite a terrific matchup against Bradley Blalock and the dreadful Rockies bullpen. San Diego just isn’t an offense with a ton of power, and Petco Park is a pitcher-friendly environment. The Padres aren’t a particularly scary fade as chalk.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
