What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 15-20 entries in the large-field tournaments. I really like the bats in the Coors Field game against two low-strikeout pitchers, and I also really like the Yankees against Tomoyuki Sugano. These offenses will not be sneaky, but I don’t mind eating chalk with my bats tonight. I will look to be overweight on Tyler Glasnow, Zac Gallen, and Yu Darvish at pitcher, and I will operate with a narrow pitching pool to help differentiate my lineups.
Krayton: I will be playing single-entry and 20-max contests. I am taking an overweight stance on the Coors Field game, as the Rockies are my favorite team to stack on the slate. I also want to be overweight on Tyler Glasnow, especially on FanDuel. I will have a pretty narrow pitching pool, with Jack Leiter, Aaron Nola, and Yu Darvish all being pitchers I’m willing to play in order to get the bats I want. The Yankees are another stack I will be mixing into my builds.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing one lineup in single-entry contests, and I want to load up on Coors Field. I like the idea of going with Aaron Nola as my SP2 despite his struggles this season, as he’s started to look a little better, and the price is just insanely cheap on DK. On FD, I’ll likely just bite the bullet with Tyler Glasnow.
tcsmith031: I’ll play 20-max with a few single-entry GPPs sprinkled in. It’s a scary fade, but I’ll likely be under the field on a potentially popular Carlos Rodon. We’ve been picking on the woeful Orioles with lefties all year, but Rodon’s own form over the past month (17.5% Ks, 9.2% walks) has been wobbly enough to give me pause about paying his 5-figure salary. Forgoing the aces and pairing a couple of cheap pitchers (like Yu Darvish and Aaron Nola) is also an interesting way to differentiate.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
