MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Sunday, July 21

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stlcardinals84: I am going to be significantly underweight on the Philadelphia offense. They will likely garner some ownership against a league average arm in Marco Gonzales, but I don’t love paying a premium for this team. They have been struggling a bit of late, the bats are all expensive, and I don’t enjoy paying a huge salary for Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber in a L/L matchup.

Krayton: The Coors game is not on the DK slate, but on FD, I like going overweight on this game, as it has been a disappointing series so far, and I really like the matchup for both sides. As was the case yesterday, the pitching will be more spread out for me, and I will look to build my offenses first. I like getting to CIN, BAL, NYY, and KC at the top.

tcsmith031: This slate is lacking in the aces department, so I plan to embrace the uncertainty and roll the dice on some cheaper options. Kevin Gausman and Jake Irvin look passable enough, while I’m happy to take the savings with Andrew Heaney, Aaron Civale, and Christian Scott in certain builds if it helps me pay up for bats. There are quite a few expensive offenses (NYM, BAL, PHI, NYY) worth paying up for.

TJ Zwarych: It’s a really gross pitching slate, so I’ll look to be underweight on the chalky pitchers like Gausman and Civale while going well over the field on players such as Jake Irvin, Trevor Rogers, Michael King, Shane Baz, and Tyler Phillips in my MME builds.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
