What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I want to say I prefer smaller-field tournaments, but I’m a little worried that the Dodgers’ ownership gets out of control in single-entry tournaments. Instead, I’ll look to get over the field on the Dodgers in larger-field contests while swapping to more Braves, Angels, Cubs, and Diamondbacks in smaller fields. I will also add the Tigers to that mix on FD. Unless you’re playing Robbie Ray, there is kind of no other option besides going cheap at pitcher, so the high-end teams like the Dodgers, Cubs, and Yankees are not going to be hard to fit. This has me preferring those mid-tier stacks like the Angels and Braves while using the high-end one-offs around them.
headChopper: I prefer smaller-field contests with limited entries, but I’ll still throw the lineup in the flagship GPPs just in case. It really shouldn’t be too difficult to get different, even if I want to play a Dodgers stack, which should be chalky. The pitching is all over the board, and the projected ownership reflects that. Early projected ownership has guys like Seth Lugo and Chris Bassitt at the top, and those are easy fades for me to get different. As far as hitting, while I still want to be overweight on the Dodgers overall, after giving them a 4-man or 5-man stack, I feel comfortable one-offing the rest of my lineup.
ebeimfohr: With minimal spend-up pitching to fear, I will be looking to save at pitcher in order to afford as many star bats as I can get. And while the Dodgers look great, paying up to be contrarian with teams like the Cubs will also be a priority as I attack smaller-field tournaments, while still getting Dodgers exposure on these lineups.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Seth Lugo – There is absolutely nothing to love at pitcher tonight, and I’m going to be mixing-and-matching all of the random cheap stuff.
