MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, June 18
Who is your favorite pitcher for large-field tournaments?
stlcardinals84: Alec Marsh
squirrelpatrol: Spencer Schwellenbach
stevietpfl: Spencer Schwellenbach
boggslite: Alec Marsh
eys819: Alec Marsh
Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
stlcardinals84: Andy Pages – It’s a bit of a weird answer, but I think Pages is the best point-per-dollar play on this slate. I love Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez, but they are priced appropriately for a matchup in Coors Field. Pages hits in the middle of the same batting order and can be had for a much cheaper salary. He should match up well with an inconsistent lefty, Austin Gomber, and Pages owns a .361 wOBA against LHP in his major league career.
squirrelpatrol: Aaron Judge – It’s not Judge’s absurd .895 SLG% over the past 30 days that makes him my pick as the top overall hitter – that doesn’t hurt, but you could argue the sample size is too small. What I like about Judge is his career .634 SLG% at home against RHP, which is higher even than his .589 SLG% at home vs. LHP. Judge comes at a price discount to Shohei Ohtani and will likely come at a pOWN% discount as well.
stevietpfl: Christian Yelich – I think the Brewers are a top stack. Griffin Canning has a 15.5% strikeout rate with a .242 ISO and .379 wOBA allowed against lefties this season. Over the last month, he has struggled with lefties even more. Yelich looks healthy, and he’s hitting the ball well and stealing bases since returning from the IL. He has a .161 ISO with a .384 wOBA against RHP this season and typically benefits from a fly-ball pitcher with his high ground-ball rate. I think this is an excellent, high-upside spot for him and the Brewers.
boggslite: Will Smith – One of the few catchers worth paying up for given a solid matchup, Smith owns a .390 wOBA and a .247 ISO against LHP dating back to the start of last season. He will look to improve upon those numbers facing a weak lefty, Austin Gomber, who has given up plenty of hard contact and managed to strike out just 15.3% of the righties he has faced dating back to the start of last season.
eys819: Christian Yelich – Yelich is enjoying his best season in years. He has posted a .389 wOBA and 154 wRC+ that put him amongst the league’s best hitters. He also has stolen 14 bases on 15 attempts. He gets a matchup against the struggling Griffin Canning, who has managed just a 15.2% strikeout rate while allowing 9.8% barrels to lefties.
