What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: Because of how many expensive bats I want to play, along with the presence of Tarik Skubal, I need to get pretty deep into MME in order to make sure I have a piece of everything I want. In any condensed build of just a few lineups for single entries, you have no choice but to completely fade something that has clear slate-breaking potential. I have to get pieces of Phillies stacks, Dodgers stacks, Aaron Judge, even unowned spend-ups like Bobby Witt and Fernando Tatis, while still making sure I have some Skubal. In order to get all that, I need to have a lot of lineups. Regardless of the number of lineups, I am going to go with a narrowed-down pitching pool, and I’m not concerning myself with ownership at pitcher. I will play Skubal if I can afford him, Dylan Cease next, Logan Henderson next on FD, and then Will Warren or a few other cheap darts on DK. My closest thing to a hot take with the bats will be getting over the field on the Rockies, but I’m going to be pretty spread out with bats.
headChopper: One hand-built lineup in single-entry and smaller-field contests on DraftKings, and 100 GPP lineups in the large-field flagship on FanDuel. Very similar to last night—I think it’s totally fine to play some Philadelphia bats at Coors, even as chalk, as long as you get a little different with how you do it. I’ll likely target some pieces from the bottom of the order again and pair that with value pitching, possibly Will Warren, to open up the rest of the build.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on large-field tournaments. We have a lot of hitting options, and I want to get exposure to multiple stacks. I like the Phillies, Yankees, Athletics, Mariners, Dodgers, and Orioles. I also like some one-offs and mini stacks outside of those offenses. I’m going to narrow down my pitching pool, with the focus more on the bats. My pitching pool right now is Tarik Skubal, Jesus Luzardo, Dylan Cease, Gavin Williams, Will Warren, Gunnar Hoglund, Brandon Walter, and Hayden Birdsong. I’m watching the weather in Chicago and Minnesota because I like some pitching and hitting in that game.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
