Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in large-field tournaments?

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I much prefer small-field contests tonight, where we should get a bigger edge in fading the Padres, and it’s easier to just play the chalk pitchers and not be worried about getting beat by the random outliers that would only be caught in MME builds. I’m by no means down on the Padres here; I just happen to like the Yankees, Mariners, and Diamondbacks every bit as much, even before accounting for the salaries and projected ownership. That makes it a very easy decision to fade full Padres stacks in those smaller-field contests, which then allows me to eat the pitching chalk, with Logan Gilbert and Sean Manaea.

headChopper: I am making one lineup on each site and putting it in small-field tournaments. I don’t mind multi-entering in large fields on this type of slate, but I have the time constraints of doing the GrindersLive show, so this is what I will play, and thus, where my state of mind is when I am looking at players. In those small fields, I can play whatever I deem to be the best pitcher on the board, even if it’s chalky. My second SP on DraftKings will probably be a little more off the radar as I see MLB lineups come in. Just like last night, I still plan on a 4-man or 5-man Padres stack, but with so many other good hitting spots tonight, I may stick to just 4 Padres and then another 3-man or 4-man stack. But again, in small fields, I can be a little chalky, and I can stack the Padres and then go home-run hunting with one-offs, whereas in large-field tournaments (if I were playing those), I would be double-stacking every lineup to the fullest.

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on 3-5 lineups in small-field tournaments. There are no issues finding bats I like, but I think the pitching is limited. I have over 10 offenses I like but only 4 pitchers I want to play. My biggest stand will be fading Sean Manaea against Baltimore. Over the last month, Manaea has a 12.9% strikeout rate and has allowed a .272 ISO and .381 wOBA. Baltimore needs a lot to happen, but they’re still in the hunt for the playoffs. Logan Gilbert, Hunter Brown, and Max Fried will be the pitchers I have the most exposure to. On DraftKings, I’ll mix in some Andre Pallante as an SP2.

Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I’m trying to find some ways to be different at pitcher, as I don’t really love the presumed popular arms tonight (or anyone for that matter), but I suspect I, too, will be in on some combination of Logan Gilbert, Hunter Brown, Jacob deGrom, and Sean Manaea. My way to be different in smaller-field contests will most likely be to roll out a nontraditional stack combination (e.g. 3-3-1-1, 3-2-2-1, etc.) that focuses on Padres, Rockies, Yankees, Mariners, and Diamondbacks.
