What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I have just a large enough pool of offenses that I prefer MME tournaments tonight. In both single-entry and MME, I’m going to keep a very condensed pitching pool, led by Emmet Sheehan and Zebby Matthews. The only team that might end up with an ownership issue is the Dodgers, but they are my top stack either way. However, if the projected ownership looks too high, I’ll swap off them in smaller-field contests in favor of the Red Sox, A’s, and Yankees.
headChopper: I’m playing 20–25 lineups on both sites in large-field GPPs. I’ll eventually narrow my pitcher pool to about 5 guys and stick with that group. Each lineup will feature a 4-man or 5-man stack, and I’ll use the remaining spots for mini stacks from other teams. Right now, I’ve identified 8–9 teams I like, but I’ll wait until ownership percentages tighten closer to lock to whittle it down further.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on 3-entry-max contests. Even with 11 games, I’m struggling to find offenses to pivot from the Dodgers, A’s, and Red Sox for my main stacks. I’m going to build around these offenses, with the Cubs and Twins as my secondary stacks. Pitching is where I will look to get different. I’m going to fade Spencer Strider, who is projected, as of early morning, to be one of the highest-owned pitchers. I will be overweight on Emmet Sheehan and Zebby Matthews.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field type of contests. It’s possible my pitching pool starts and stops with George Kirby, Zebby Matthews, and Emmet Sheehan. I don’t make a lot of lineups, but I like the idea of leaning in on the extremes of Matthews, meaning I’ll either roster him or pick on him in (most) every lineup I make.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Emmet Sheehan — If you don’t count the 3 starts from Shane Bieber, the two highest-strikeout pitchers on this slate are facing the two highest-strikeout teams in the league. Sheehan and Zebby Matthews are both in the range of a 27% K rate, and both are facing heavily right-handed offenses that are filled with strikeouts. On DK, I’m just going to play both of them. On FD, where they are priced closely, I’ll give the nod to Sheehan, with the better team behind him increasing his chances for the win.
