MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, August 7th

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani
Stevietpfl: Shohei Ohtani
TheLuuch: Shohei Ohtani
Dean78904: Francisco Lindor

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Cole Ragans – Ragans should see less pOWN% than pitchers like George Kirby and Tarik Skubal, but Ragans is arguably in a higher-upside spot. The Red Sox have the highest K% in the league vs. LHP, and Boston has a sub-4.0 implied run total. Ragans has a 28.9% K% this year and is allowing just a .265 wOBA in away games this season.

Stevietpfl: George Kirby – It’s hard to narrow down a top pitcher tonight. It could be one of seven guys. On that note, I like the matchup the most for Kirby. The Tigers have seven hitters with a strikeout rate of over 22% against right-handed pitching this season. Kirby has elite command, and this is a matchup he should dominate from the first pitch. He’s also a little cheaper than the top-end guys, which helps fit in an extra bat.

TheLuuch: Cole Ragans – I’m giving the edge to Ragans over Tarik Skubal. I really like Seattle’s deadline additions from a contact perspective. Boston has been great over the summer, but the Sox still own the 5th-highest strikeout rate vs. LHP since July 1. Ragans has the leash for 100+ pitches, and he’s a great pivot from George Kirby on DraftKings at just about the same price and much less projected ownership. I also really like the Kansas City offense tonight, and having confidence in obtaining the fantasy points for a pitching win is a really nice bonus.

Dean78904: George Kirby – I hesitate to write up Kirby, who “only” has a 24% K rate on a slate with five dudes who have at least a 28.9% K rate, but he comes with a discount and has a real chance to eat a pile of innings. Kirby has ridiculous control as he has an absurdly miniscule 2.8% BB rate. In almost half of his games (11 of 23), he has avoided giving up a free pass, and Detroit’s current roster is very impatient vs. RHPs (6.3% BB rate, 3rd lowest in MLB). The Tigers are swinging a lot and not doing much damage – 29th OPS, 29th wOBA, 29th wRC+, and 25th ISO. I could have featured a handful of arms here, but I just love this spot for Kirby and expect to need his discounted tag when filling out the rest of my roster.
