What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: Even on a small slate, I still want to multi-enter large-field GPPs. The biggest edge I can create on this type of slate is by stacking differently than usual. Instead of traditional 4×4 or 5×2 stacks, I feel like using 2×2×2 stacks—or similar variations—is the best way to build unique lineups.

Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry contests and smaller-field contests. I’ve also been dabbling in some 50/50 and H2H contests early in the season. I expect to play at least one of Joe Ryan or Hunter Brown in every lineup, and ideally I’d pair them together in cash. The smaller the slate, the more willing I am to get goofy and loosen up my general rules. The bad pitchers (Antonio Sanzatela and Taijuan Walker) are so clearly “bad” that I’m going to have a hard time getting much of them, so I’ll be much more willing to roster a “bad” hitter if I’m looking for a potential separator.

ebeimfohr: I used to not be much of a fan of these tiny slates, especially for baseball, but the small-field, single-entry strategy around them has actually turned me into quite a fan. The ownership generally skews VERY far into the best projected plays. On a regular slate, Shohei Ohtani might be 30% while Fernando Tatis is 15%. That’s a nice ownership discount, but on a slate like this, Max Kepler might be 60% while Wilyer Abreu is 15%. The leverage is massive, and it’s baseball, where we know how chaotic it can be, and I will definitely be looking to get away from the Phillies chalk and moving over to the Red Sox game as my primary source of offense for today, especially in small-field tournaments.
