Happy Monday! The week kicks off with a weird and somewhat confusing 7-game slate. Be sure to note that we have an earlier than usual start time of 6:40 PM ET.

At first glance, I see a massive tangle on both the pitching and hitting sides, with a whole bunch of question marks. I’m going to narrow things down as best I can, but I see this as a slate where you could have almost any opinion you want and no one can tell you it’s wrong.

The MLB weather looks likely to cooperate, so we can just wait to see how the MLB starting lineups look as they roll in throughout the day.

Gilbert of the Mariners

I really can’t separate anything into tiers tonight. If Logan Gilbert hadn’t missed time with injury, he could be his own top tier, but after him, everything is closely bunched and without a lot of gap in salary.

Based only on 2025 numbers, Logan Gilbert is completely in a tier of his own and would be the easy SP1 tonight. However, he is making his first start off the IL from an elbow injury and is almost certainly not going to get a full workload. He made 3 rehab starts, working up to 72 pitches in 5 innings. My best guess based on that is that he could get 80-85 pitches if all goes well, which would still be enough to be the SP1 on this slate. But with the question marks on innings, as well as no way to know for sure that he picks up right where he left off, this is not some sort of must-play. I am going to see what else we find before I decide what to do with Gilbert.

Dylan Cease is still priced way down on DK, despite being back up to the 30% strikeout range this season. He faced the Dodgers in his last start as well, and while it was mostly outstanding, there is some downside too.
