Million Dollar Musings: Monday, September 4

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Monday! After a quick Google search, I still have no idea why this is a holiday, but if it is, and that is good for you, well then I am very happy for you! We get a nice 7-game midday MLB slate which is quite evenly balanced on both sides, with plenty of solid options in what should be a similar ownership range, at least on the hitting side. With the early 2:10 PM ET start, I’ll skip the rest of the shenanigans and jump right in with some MLB DFS picks, starting with Mr. Cole Ragans taking the lead on the pitching side.
After the early slate, I’m heading out to the grill to fire up some steaks, but if you’re playing the later 4-game slate, we’ll have Expert Tags in LineupHQ to help get you pointed in the right direction.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

While I may not be certain what Labor Day is, I do know what Cole Ragans Day is, and that my friends, is a holiday worth celebrating.
Six Aces? More Like One Ace And Five Non-Ragans
Logan Webb at Cubs – 23.6% K, 3.8% BB, 3.49 ERA, 3.19 SIERA
Justin Steele vs. Giants – 23.6% K, 5.2% BB, 2.69 ERA, 3.77 SIERA
Aaron Civale vs. Red Sox – 20% K, 5.8% BB, 2.64 ERA, 4.41 SIERA
Merrill Kelly vs. Rockies – 25.5% K, 9% BB, 3.31 ERA, 4.09 SIERA
Jose Berrios at A’s – 22.2% K, 7% BB, 3.70 ERA, 4.28 SIERA
Cole Ragans vs. White Sox – 29.5% K, 9.2% BB, 3.27 ERA, 3.57 SIERA
Well, the sites finally raised Cole Ragans’ salary a little. Did they raise it enough? LOL, not even kind of close. I guess you could argue that $9,000 on FD is closer to appropriate, but $7,200 on DK is still a laughable under-pricing. In six starts since moving into the Royals rotation, Ragans has an outlandishly phenomenal 36.6% K rate, with just 6.2% walks, a 1.72 ERA, and a 2.65 SIERA. Three of those six starts have been shutouts, and five of them have come with 8+ strikeouts. If he were the highest-priced pitcher on both sites, he’d be my clear SP1. At his current salary, he’s an absolute ‘Don’t Overthink It’ on DK and a basically ‘Don’t Overthink It’ on FD.
After Ragans, it’s a weird and tricky slate, with five good pitchers but all of whom are on the ‘better in real life’ side of things.
