Million Dollar Musings: Thursday, April 20

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Thursday! We have a slow day on tap with just a five-game main slate tonight. Be sure to note the earlier-than-usual start time of 6:35 PM ET. You gotta be sure to get off work early to catch these super exciting and crucial division matchups like the Reds-Pirates!
We have a bad pitching slate, which is going to lead to sketchy chalk on one side. On the hitting side, we are going to have non-sketchy chalk, with the Dodgers in a Wrigley Wind game and a $2,000 Fernando Tatis on DK which is already the most talked about salary mistake. So please do not feel the need to tweet about it. We all see it.
Let’s jump right into this goofy pitching slate and see if we can find a reason to like any of these MLB DFS picks.
Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Kodai Senga at Giants
Sean Manaea vs. Mets – 23.5% K, 7.5% BB, 4.94 ERA, 3.89 SIERA
Roansy Contreras vs. Reds – 20.3% K, 9.9% BB, 4.09 ERA, 4.56 SIERA
Matt Strahm vs. Rockies – 28% K, 9.1% BB, 3.45 ERA, 3.33 SIERA
Michael Wacha at Diamondbacks – 20.3% K, 6.2% BB, 3.63 ERA, 4.10 SIERA
Luke Weaver at Pirates
Ryan Feltner at Phillies – 20.1% K, 9.3% BB, 6.18 ERA, 4.48 SIERA
Kodai Senga is the highest priced pitcher on both sites by a wide margin. And I would guess he will be at least moderately chalky on both sites, particularly on DK due to the lack of other options. We have learned essentially nothing about who this guy is through three major league starts. He has had three very easy matchups, two against the Marlins and one in Oakland. And while the strikeouts look solid at 30%, he has also walked at least three batters in each of those starts and has only reached six innings once. Tonight’s matchup leans towards what he is already showing, with a Giants team that has a high strikeout rate but also a lot of patience. Officially, I have to call him the ‘best pitcher’ on this slate for raw points, and he probably has the highest upside as well. But also very officially, I don’t see him being anywhere near must-play territory at this salary. Let’s see what else we can find before making any final judgments here.
