Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Thursday 4/23

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the April 23, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Thursday! We have an early start, with a 6-game slate beginning at 1:05 PM ET. Things are split pretty cleanly down the middle, with ace pitchers on one side and high-upside offenses on the other side. The Padres get one last chance to do something in Coors Field, but like the last 2 days, they are not necessarily a top-of-the-board offense. We’ll see what happens as we dig through it, but my initial thought is that the main goal is prioritizing the top 5 pitchers.
If you’re playing the later 3-game slate at 6:10 PM ET, we will have expert tags and analysis in our MLB DFS optimizer, LineupHQ.
Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

This slate is split quite clearly between 6 top pitchers and then a bunch of nonsense. We’ll look at the nonsense, but if salary allows, this is a very easy slate to narrow things down.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Tarik Skubal vs. Brewers – 31.6% K, 4.5% BB, 2.19 ERA, 2.74 SIERA
- Cristopher Sanchez at Cubs – 27% K, 5.6% BB, 2.38 ERA, 2.95 SIERA
- Tyler Glasnow at Giants – 29.3% K, 10.6% BB, 3.20 ERA, 3.66 SIERA
- Logan Webb vs. Dodgers – 25.4% K, 5.8% BB, 3.49 ERA, 3.20 SIERA
- Edward Cabrera vs. Phillies – 24.9% K, 8.8% BB, 3.37 ERA, 3.86 SIERA
- Michael Soroka vs. White Sox – 26.1% K, 7.4% BB, 4.17 ERA, 3.60 SIERA
It took Tarik Skubal a few starts to get going, but he is back to his usual elite self, getting up to 10 strikeouts in his last start and lowering his ERA to 2.08 as he works on a 4th straight season of a sub-3.00 ERA. Even among a slew of aces, his long-term skill set is heads and shoulders above the pack, and I don’t see any reason to overthink this one. The Brewers aren’t the best strikeout matchup, but they are a very low-power team to make up for it. He’s not some guarantee to have the highest score today, so he’s fadeable in tournaments because of the salary, but let’s not pretend as if he’s not the SP1. Let’s see how much we end up liking the rest of this tier before deciding how strongly to prioritize him at the high salary.
We have two ace vs. ace matchups with Sanchez vs. Cabrera in Wrigley Field and Glasnow vs. Webb in San Francisco. You can argue between Sanchez and Glasnow as to who the better pitcher is, and you could maybe even argue between Webb and Cabrera as far as DFS upside, but you can’t argue about the pitching conditions today. It is a far better spot for…
