Million Dollar Musings: Wednesday, June 14

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Wednesday! Thanks to Cards for filling in for me the last couple days so I could jump back into my old life as a songwriter for a few days. It’s always a blast. But now we’re back to business with a busy 12-game slate tonight. We also have a 3-gamer early this afternoon, and we’ll have some expert tags in LineupHQ for those games. If you want to hear my in-depth thoughts on the early slate, join us for an early Crunch Time at 12:40pm ET.
For the main slate, we are loaded with aces, followed by a large group of decent-ish mid-tier pitching. On the offensive side, things are jumbled, though we’ll do our best to sort the MLB DFS picks into a few different buckets. Every time I say ‘buckets’, I think of KFC. I think this may be why I say buckets so often. Here we go!
Wednesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Something Like Six Aces, Or At Least Four
Gerrit Cole at Mets – 25.8% K, 8.3% BB, 2.84 ERA, 3.96 SIERA
Clayton Kershaw vs. White Sox – 30.3% K, 6.2% BB, 2.95 ERA, 3.17 SIERA
Framber Valdez vs. Nationals – 26.5% K, 6% BB, 2.36 ERA, 3.14 SIERA
Luis Castillo vs. Marlins – 30% K, 5.5% BB, 2.70 ERA, 3.19 SIERA
Tyler Glasnow at A’s – 31.1% K, 10.9% BB [3 starts]
Merrill Kelly vs. Phillies – 26.8% K, 9.8% BB, 2.92 ERA, 3.94 SIERA

Without even looking at matchups, a quick scan of the 2023 numbers tells me that Gerrit Cole does not deserve to be the highest-priced pitcher on DK. Even on FD, where he’s just in the big pricing clump with everyone else, I am pretty close to an X button. There is still plenty of talent here, and I’ll never be shocked when he puts up a big start, but he ends up missing the cut for me when adding in the matchup.
I’m also going to pass on Merrill Kelly. He actually has pitched well enough to belong in this group of aces, but he still falls to the bottom of it without any discount.
From here, things get a lot tougher to decipher. All of Glasnow, Kershaw, Castillo, and Valdez are firmly in play and will end up in my primary pool. There is only a $1,200 gap separating the four of them on FD and a $1,400 gap on DK, which is close enough that salary does not need to be the deciding factor here.
