MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Monday, April 14th

Opto% Stack

KC Royals at Carlos Carrasco

The Kansas City Royals stand out as an exceptional MLB DFS stack today against Carlos Carrasco. With the best optimal stack rate and stack rating in our current projections, paired with the 3rd-best Value%, they are a strong choice. The Royals boast an implied run total of 4.18 runs, which is one of the better totals on the slate.

Carrasco’s recent performances suggest a continued decline, marked by an ERA over 5.50 for 3 consecutive seasons. His current stats over 11 innings showcase a return to a 19% strikeout rate, with no ground ball control, making him particularly vulnerable. With a .261 ISO allowed to right-handers and a .225 ISO to left-handers since last season, Royals’ hitters could capitalize.

Key players like Bobby Witt, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Salvador Perez offer significant power potential, while budget-friendly options like Michael Massey, Hunter Renfroe, and MJ Melendez provide excellent value.

Value% Stack

Atlanta Braves at Easton Lucas

The Atlanta Braves present a compelling MLB DFS stack today against Easton Lucas. Sitting with the 3rd-best optimal stack rate, 6th-best stack rating, and leading in Value%. With an implied run total of 4.5 runs, their offensive capabilities are notable.

While Lucas’s small sample size provides limited insights, his tendency towards fly balls is evident. This left-handed pitcher might exhibit reverse splits, but until more data is available, traditional matchups favor Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna over Matt Olson. Ozzie Albies is particularly appealing, both independently and in stacks, presenting a strategic advantage, especially given the second base market’s relative weakness.

While this scenario is more unpredictable than the Dodgers or Royals, it carries comparable upside. The Braves’ popularity might influence strategy; if ownership projections are high, it may be wise to scale back in smaller tournaments. Yet, maintaining exposure to Riley, Ozuna, and Albies individually remains a sound plan.
