MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Thursday, May 29th
Opto% Stack
Washington Nationals at Emerson Hancock
The Nationals stand out as a solid MLB DFS stack today against Emerson Hancock, supported by our projections that give them the 2nd-best optimal stack rate, the best stack rating, and the highest Value%. They exploded for 9 runs and 4 HRs against George Kirby last night—the Nationals are likely to be extremely popular, and for good reason.
Hancock profiles as a much weaker version of Kirby, with poor strikeout ability and questionable control, especially versus lefties. Washington is expected to roll out a lineup of 9 lefties or switch hitters, perfectly suited to exploit Hancock’s splits. With Seattle’s bullpen featuring just one lefty, the Nationals’ lefty bats should see favorable matchups all game.
CJ Abrams and James Wood are elite plays in all formats, but the entire stack offers strong value, allowing you to mix and match based on salary needs. The combination of matchup, lineup construction, and value makes Washington the clear top stack on the slate.

Value% Stack
Athletics at Jose Berrios
The Athletics project as one of the better MLB DFS stacks against Jose Berrios, ranking 3rd in optimal stack rate, 3rd in stack rating, and 2nd in Value% in our projections. While Berrios was historically vulnerable to left-handed power, his splits have evened out, and he now profiles as a below-average pitcher to both sides of the plate.
This makes the entire Athletics lineup viable, regardless of handedness. Berrios is still prone to issuing walks to lefties and throws too many hittable pitches to righties, increasing the A’s upside for both power and run production. Brent Rooker stands out as a strong one-off play, but for stacking purposes, there’s no need to prioritize between Rooker, Lawrence Butler, Tyler Soderstrom, or Shea Langeliers—any combination can work depending on salary and positional fit. With a favorable matchup and strong value metrics, the Athletics are a top-tier stack for tonight’s slate.
