Pitcher Grind Down
- Tom Koehler – Koehler has posted 3 straight quality starts, but draws an extremely tough matchup against the D-Backs in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. His last 3 starts have increased his salary and now is not the time to pay up for Koehler. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6600 FD, $15468 DS, $14050 DD, $6900 DK, $95500 FF, $20200 SS, $14050 FTD
- Chase Anderson – Anderson’s last start was the first start in his career in which he didn’t at least pitch 5 innings. As a rookie, he’s posted quality numbers (3.91 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP), but he hasn’t been a great fantasy option. This game has a high run total and I’ll likely be avoiding both pitchers in this one. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6100 FD, $9037 DS, $11800 DD, $6300 DK, $65200 FF, $15000 SS, $11800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Giancarlo Stanton – Stanton is lining up to be an excellent play tonight. First off, Stanton has multi-HR upside. Second, Anderson has given up a .438 wOBA to RH batters. And finally, this game will be played in the hitter-friendly Chase Field.
Additional Plays: Christian Yelich, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Garrett Jones
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – Koehler is a reverse splits pitcher that gives up a much higher wOBA to RH hitters (.330) than he does to LH hitters (.255). Goldschmidt is typically preferred against LH pitching, but he’s no slouch against RH pitching either (.396 wOBA this season).
Additional Plays: Miguel Montero, Ender Inciarte

Pitcher Grind Down
- J.A. Happ – Even though the Rogers Centre is one of the best hitter’s parks in baseball, Happ has posted much better numbers at home than he has on the road. In 5 starts on the road, Happ has a 5.14 ERA with a 1.68 WHIP. Furthermore, he is facing an Angels’ offense that is ranked 1st in all of baseball in wOBA (.350) against LH pitching. Avoid Happ in all leagues. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6300 FD, $12913 DS, $11850 DD, $6400 DK, $85000 FF, $16500 SS, $11850 FTD
- Jered Weaver – Weaver is one of the bigger favorites on the schedule tonight. He should see plenty of run support so he will likely be in line for the win if he pitches well. Weaver has always pitched well in the friendly confines of Angels Stadium and this season is no different. He has a 2.75 ERA at home this season with a K/9 of 7.8. The Blue Jays struggle on the road and this could be a sneaky spot to target Weaver. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7600 FD, $16548 DS, $15400 DD, $8500 DK, $97000 FF, $23000 SS, $15400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Toronto
Adam Lind – Lind is really the only Blue Jays’ bat that I am considering tonight. He has been terrific against RH pitching all season long and he has good numbers off of Weaver in his career: 9/26 with 5 XBH’s.
Additional Plays: None
LA Angels
Mike Trout – In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, Trout is pretty good against LH pitching. He is sporting a .458 wOBA against LH pitching this season and 16 of his 29 hits against southpaws have gone for extra bases.
Additional Plays: Howie Kendrick, C.J. Cron, Albert Pujols

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ryan Vogelsong – Vogelsong has had a nice bounce back season, but will have his hands full tonight with Chavez and the A’s. The A’s are ranked 5th in wOBA (.329) against RH pitching and lead the league in walks. That doesn’t bode well for Vogelsong tonight. He’s an easy avoid in all leagues. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6200 FD, $14636 DS, $13700 DD, $7600 DK, $76600 FF, $21200 SS, $13700 FTD
- Jesse Chavez – Chavez’s move from the bullpen to a starter has been a successful one. On the season he is sporting a 3.23 ERA with a K/9 of 8.1. Chavez’s srikeouts per game aren’t near double-digits like they were earlier in the season, but he has struck out at least 4 batters in each of his last 6 starts. He’s one of the cheaper starters that is favored tonight. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7300 FD, $13771 DS, $13150 DD, $7900 DK, $83700 FF, $21500 SS, $13150 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco
There aren’t any options that stand out on the Giants tonight. Chavez has really pitched well at home this season.
Oakland
Coco Crisp – Crisp should be in the lineup tonight against Ryan Vogelsong who has been vulnerable to LH hitters throughout his career. Crisp has a .376 wOBA against RH pitching this season and has both speed and power.
Additional Plays: John Jaso, Stephen Vogt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kevin Correia – I could copy the same paragraph over every time Correia takes the mound. Even in a favorable matchup, he is not on my fantasy radar. His K-rate is lower than his ERA. That is a serious red flag and I’ll be avoiding him in all leagues. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5400 FD, $8522 DS, $9350 DD, $5600 DK, $44200 FF, $13400 SS, $9350 FTD
- Hisashi Iwakuma – Iwakuma is coming off of a nice outing against the Astros and will look to back it up tonight against the Twins. The Twins strike out at the 8th highest rate against RH pitching and and are right around the league average in wOBA against RH pitching. He should see plenty of run support and is a nice alternative if you don’t want to pay up for Wainwright or Strasburg. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8200 FD, $15079 DS, $16850 DD, $9100 DK, $105000 FF, $26300 SS, $16850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
I’ll be avoiding all Twins’ bats tonight. Since the start of 2013, Iwakuma has held both LH and RH batters under a .280 wOBA.
Seattle
Kyle Seager – This could be a sneaky night to stack the Mariners, but if I have to pick one for cash games, I’m giving the nod to Seager. Seager has a .408 wOBA against RH pitching this season and a terrific matchup against Correia who has struggled with LH hitters.
Additional Plays: Robinson Cano, Michael Saunders
