Pitcher Grind Down
- Kevin Correia – Correia is not a recommended fantasy option. Not anytime soon anyway. He has a 5.60 ERA and one of the lowest K-rates in baseball. Avoid him in all leagues tonight against the Red Sox. Rating = 2
Salaries: $4900 FD, $7302 DS, $9350 DD, $5700 DK, $50100 FF, $14300 SS, $9350 FTD
- Rubby De La Rosa – De La Rosa has given up a combined 8 earned runs over his last 2 starts, but is still a decent mid-range option at SP. He’s a sizable favorite tonight against the Twins who have been pretty average against RH pitching this season. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6500 FD, $12604 DS, $13200 DD, $7000 DK, $61000 FF, $18700 SS, $ FTD

Minnesota
Josh Willingham – The sample size is small, but De La Rosa has given up a .379 wOBA to RHB’s this season. Willingham has been terrific against RH pitching with a .432 wOBA. He offers nice upside in the OF at his price point.
Additional Plays: Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier
Boston
David Ortiz – Correia has given up a .358+ wOBA to both LHB’s and RHB’s this season so don’t be afraid to take a few different Red Sox against him. Ortiz has the nice lefty/righty matchup against him and makes a great play on sites where he is 1B-eligible.
Additional Plays: Mike Napoli, Brock Holt, Dustin Pedroia

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jacob Degrom – Degrom has 6 major league starts under his belt and he’s posted quality outings in 4 of them. His price is still extremely cheap across the industry, but it’s always hard to target Mets’ pitchers as you never really know if they are going to get any run support. Degrom is a +140 underdog tonight and can easily be avoided in cash games. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5900 FD, $12247 DS, $12250 DD, $7500 DK, $72400 FF, $18600 SS, $12250 FTD
- Carlos Martinez – Martinez will get the start tonight, but this is a bullpen start meaning he won’t pitch very deep into this game. He hasn’t pitched more than 2 and 2/3’s innings yet this season and his max tonight will likely be 5 innings. Even in a perfect outing, he will barely be eligible for the win. That really limits his upside. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5400 FD, $ DS, $7500 DD, $5700 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
Daniel Murphy – Since he has only pitched out of the bullpen, the sample size is very small. That said, Martinez has given up a .397 wOBA to LHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: David Wright
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Adams has now played 3 games since coming back from the DL and he has homered in each of them. Adams has a .419 wOBA against RH pitching this season and a nice matchup against Degrom who has given up a .332 wOBA to LHB’s.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig

Pitcher Grind Down
- Wily Peralta – Peralta is having a very solid season (2.90 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP), but he faces a tough D-Backs offense in the hitter-friendly Chase Field tonight. Vegas expects this to be one of the higher scoring games of the night and so do I. For that reason, I’ll be avoiding both SP’s in this one. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6900 FD, $15666 DS, $14450 DD, $7000 DK, $86400 FF, $20300 SS, $14450 FTD
- Brandon McCarthy – McCarthy has given up 18 earned runs over his last 4 starts. His ERA has risen above 5.00 on the season and he’s an easy avoid tonight against the Brewers even at his discounted price. The Brewers are finally getting healthy and they have been good against RH pitching as they are ranked 10th in the majors. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5600 FD, $12530 DS, $12450 DD, $6200 DK, $47200 FF, $16400 SS, $12450 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – Gomez always seems to be under-owned compared to some of the other top OF’s in baseball. He has great speed and great power against both LH and RH pitching. I like the matchup for him tonight against McCarthy in Chase Field.
Additional Plays: Ryan Braun, Scooter Gennett, Jonathan Lucroy
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Peralta has given up a .325 wOBA to LHB’s this season and Montero has a .401 wOBA. Again, this game is in the hitter-friendly Chase Field and there should be plenty of runs scored in this one.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Colby Lewis – Lewis has posted subpar fantasy outings in each of his last 5 starts. He has an extremely tough matchup tonight against the A’s who are ranked 6th against RH pitching with a team .330 wOBA. Target the A’s side of this matchup. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6400 FD, $10900 DS, $9450 DD, $5000 DK, $48500 FF, $13000 SS, $9450 FTD
- Drew Pomeranz – Pomeranz has really pitched well for the A’s this season. He owns a 1.90 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.6. He’s pitched 7 innings in each of his last 2 starts so we no longer have to worry about his ability to pitch deep into games. His matchup against the Rangers isn’t the best, but he is a huge favorite in a game with a low run total. Rating = 6
Salaries: $5500 FD, $12835 DS, $11100 DD, $7200 DK, $81000 FF, $18200 SS, $ FTD

Texas
Alex Rios – Rios has always hit LH pitching well and this season is no different. He has a wOBA over .500 against southpaws this season. He also has a nice combination of speed and power which always boosts a player’s fantasy value.
Additional Plays: Adrian Beltre
Oakland
Brandon Moss – The wOBA machine loves Moss tonight. Lewis is giving up a .405 wOBA to LHB’s this season and Moss has a .381 wOBA against RH pitching. The A’s are one of my top teams to stack tonight in both cash games and GPP’s.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp, John Jaso, Josh Donaldson, Derek Norris

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tyler Matzek – Matzek was terrific in his debut outing against the Braves. He was once considered a top prospect, but had been pretty average in the minors. Only time will tell if he is going to be a legitimate big league starter. I like to take a wait and see approach in these situations and that’s exactly what I’ll be doing tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $3000 FD, $11407 DS, $13250 DD, $7300 DK, $67000 FF, $18500 SS, $14800 FTD
- Hyun-Jin Ryu – Ryu had a decent start ruined by a couple of 2-out walks in his last start against the Reds. He’s struggled at home this season, but that should be an aberration more than anything else as Ryu has pitched well at Dodger Stadium throughout his career. I love his matchup tonight against the Rockies who have been awful offensively away from Coors. Ryu is one of the biggest favorites on the board for a reason. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8000 FD, $16333 DS, $14400 DD, $8200 DK, $99400 FF, $21200 SS, $15000 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
With the recent road struggles that the Rockies have had offensively, I’ll be avoiding all Rockies’ hitters in cash games against Ryu. Troy Tulowitzki does make a nice GPP play though.
LA Dodgers
Yasiel Puig – It’s hard to know what to expect out of Matzek in his 2nd career start, but I like a few of the RHB’s in this Dodgers’ lineup. Puig has a .372 wOBA against LH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tyson Ross – Ross is having another excellent season. He is sporting a 2.97 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.6. He’s almost a lock when he is pitching at Petco, but is still in play on the road, especially in some of the more pitcher friendly ballparks. Tonight he faces a Mariners’ offense that is ranked 25th against RH pitching this season with a team .299 wOBA. He’s in play on both multi-pitcher sites and GPP’s. Rating = 7
Salaries: $6700 FD, $16569 DS, $16750 DD, $8800 DK, $97300 FF, $24400 SS, $16750 FTD
- Chris Young – Young as pitched well this season, but doesn’t have a high enough K-rate to make him a legitimate fantasy starter. He is only averaging 4.3 strikeouts per 9 innings which really limits his upside. I do like the matchup against the Padres, but he’s an average option at best tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5300 FD, $11448 DS, $11250 DD, $5900 DK, $67400 FF, $14700 SS, $11250 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
While I likely won’t be using Young tonight, I’m not crazy about the Padres’ hitters either. Young has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .315 wOBA and the Padres are ranked dead last against RH pitching this season.
Seattle
Even though this Mariners’ offense is full of LHB’s, Ross has been very efficient against lefties this season. He is holding them to a .247 wOBA which is more than enough for me to avoid the M’s hitters tonight.
