Pitcher Grind Down
- Garrett Richards – After being blasted by the A’s to close out the month of May, Richards has been fantastic in both starts this month. He possesses an upper 90’s fastball that has helped him rack up nearly a strikeout per inning this season and sports a very strong 3.09 ERA on the season. He has a nice upside today against an Atlanta team that is quite prone to strikeouts. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $7200 FD, $16340 DS, $17050 DD, $9100 DK, $NA FF, $25600 SS, $NA FTD
- Gavin Floyd – Floyd recorded his first win of the season in his last start despite owning a 2.57 ERA on the season. His 1.38 WHIP is not fantastic and leads me to believe that his current ERA is unsustainable. The Angels rank near the top of MLB in OPS versus right-handed pitching, which makes Floyd just a marginal option today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6200 FD, $13811 DS, $12950 DD, $8000 DK, $ FF, $20200 SS, $ FTD

LA Angels
Josh Hamilton – Lefties are hitting .302 off of Floyd this season and Hamilton owns a .423 wOBA versus right-handed pitching this season. Hamilton has punished Floyd in their past meetings, going 8 for 15 with a pair of doubles and a homerun.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout
Atlanta
Evan Gattis – Gattis went deep again last night and now has four homeruns during his last ten games. He owns a 1.261 OPS during the month of June and is hitting .309 this season at Turner Field.
Additional Plays: Freddie Freeman, Tommy La Stella

Pitcher Grind Down
- Stephen Strasburg – The fact that many people have voiced concerns about Strasburg this season says it all, as he’s still managed to post a 6-4 record, 2.99 ERA and rack up 108 strikeouts through 87.1 innings. He’s yet to record a win against St. Louis, despite pitching very well in three starts (2.37 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 25 K’s in 19 innings). WIth all that said, he has been quite human on the road this season (1-3 with a 4.25 ERA) and definitely doesn’t come cheap. He’s a strong option regardless and has as much upside as any pitcher in baseball, just be careful not to over pay for him. Rating = 8.5
Salaries: $10000 FD, $23539 DS, $21400 DD, $10900 DK, $NA FF, $31700 SS, $NA FTD
- Shelby Miller – After a shakey month of May, things were getting a little uneasy for Shelby until he came out against Toronto and dominated; allowing just three hits in a complete game shutout. He has pitched extremely well at Busch Stadium during his short career, posting a 13-6 record and a 2.29 ERA in 23 home starts. Miller mowed down these Nats hitters when they met earlier this season and he’s very capable of another gem if he can consistently find the strikezone but will have his work cut of for him to secure a “W” with Strasburg opposing him. Raitng = 6
Salaries: $6700 FD, $13339 DS, $13950 DD, $8000 DK, $ FF, $20600 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Washington
Adam LaRoche – Miller has only allowed right-handed batters to him just .208 against him during his career, so if you’re going to pick on him you’ll want to do it with a lefty. LaRoche is having a fantastic season and sports a very impressive .421 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Jayson Werth, Denard Span
St. Louis
Strasburg can be nasty and the Cardinals offense has been struggling. I will not be targeting any Red Birds today, especially on sites that penalize strikeouts.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hiroki Kuroda – Kuroda appears to have shaken off the early season rust and has settled into a nice groove lately. He just faced this Oakland team last week and, although the Yankees lost, he only allowed two hits and one run through 6.2 innings. He sees a small fantasy boost due to the spacious venue in Oakland and the fact that he’s owns a very solid 3.19 road ERA. However, this is not an Oakland lineup that I enjoy picking on and therefore Kuroda is better served as a GPP option. Rating = 5.5
Salaries: $7100 FD, $11733 DS, $12750 DD, $7200 DK, $NA FF, $18300 SS, $NA FTD
- Scott Kazmir – Kazmir continues to impress as he’s now pushed his ERA down to 2.20 after 13 starts. He pitched quite well against the Yankees last week, allowing just two runs while striking out 10 in 6.1 innings. He owns a 1.69 ERA at the Oakland Coliseum and has fanned 25 batters over his last three starts. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8600 FD, $17742 DS, $18200 DD, $9400 DK, $ FF, $27500 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Yankees
Mark Teixeira – “Tex” has absolutely owned Kazmir in his career, going 11 for 20 with four doubles and two homeruns. He also owns a .927 career OPS against left-handed pitching.
Additional Plays: Alfonso Soriano
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Yea, you probably already know this, but Moss is a great play against right-handed pitching as he sports a .385 wOBA against righties.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp, Yoenis Cespedes, John Jaso

Pitcher Grind Down
- Joe Saunders – Despite allowing opposing hitters to hit .326 off of him this season, Saunders has somehow found a way to post a respectable 3.60 ERA in his four starts. Today he’ll do battle with a Seattle team that is extremely left-handed heavy and, thusly, ranks near the bottom of MLB in OPS versus southpaws (.634). However, with limited strikeout potential and a 1.90 WHIP it’s hard to recommend Saunders as anything more than a GPP flier. Rating = 4
Salaries: $4800 FD, $7887 DS, $7500 DD, $5700 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Erasmo Ramirez – High pitch counts have been a major issue for Ramirez as even when he pitched fairly well in his last start, he still failed to make it through five innings. With a high ERA (5.97), a high WHIP (1.67) and the inability to pitch deep into games, he’s not a recommended play against this Texas team that blasted him for five runs in just two innings earlier this season. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5500 FD, $9485 DS, $9000 DD, $5300 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Texas
Adrian Beltre – Beltre owns a .386 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season and has heated up with the weather. He’s hitting .395 during the month of June and should have plenty of opportunities to do damage today against Ramirez.
Additional Plays: Shin-Soo Choo
Seattle
I expect the Mariners to have a decent game today against Saunders, but they’re so left-handed heavy that it’s hard to pinpoint any great options.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Josh Collmenter – Collmenter will enter tonight’s game with a very respectable 3.65 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. However, he’s faced this Dodger’s team twice already this season and the results were not fantastic (5.84 ERA in 12.1 innings). His strikeout rate has dipped to 5.47 K’s/9 this season and his .261 BABIP is likely due for a regression, but Collmenter is in play tonight on multi-pitcher sites where he can be rostered at a discount. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $7000 FD, $10622 DS, $11450 DD, $6400 DK, $NA FF, $16400 SS, $NA FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren has been solid, yet unspectacular this season. He’ll bring a solid 6-4 record and 3.49 ERA into tonight’s game against Arizona, but he’s yet to toss a true “gem”. He has spectactual control which helps him limit the damage against him, but his strikeout rate (6.08 K’s/9) is the lowest of his career. He was been less than spectacular in all three starts this season against Arizona, so he’s really only a decent option as a safe fill-in on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 5.5
Salaries: $7300 FD, $15844 DS, $14100 DD, $8100 DK, $ FF, $19700 SS, $ FTD

Arizona
Chris Owings – If you’re a fan of BvsP than you have to like Owings tonight as he’s gone 9 for 11 against Haren this season.
- Additional Plays: Miguel Montero, Paul Goldschmidt
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Collmenter has been very tough on righties this season, but lefties are hitting .301 off of him. A-Gon enters tonight’s game with a .385 wOBA against right-handed pitching and is 4 for 7 with a double and a homerun in his career against Collmenter.
- Additional Plays: Yaisel Puig, Dee Gordon, Hanley Ramirez
