Pitcher Grind Down
Jason Hammel – Hammels has been a nice surprise for the Cubs early in the season. He is keeping RH bats off the bases and holding a 2.60 ERA after 4 starts. He is a heavy underdog today though against the Brewers and his low K/9 rate makes him avoidable. Rating = 5
Wily Peralta – Peralta is one of the bigger favorites on the board today and for good reason. This Cubs team has been terrible offensively putting up a .218 AVG against RH pitching and a .282 OBP. These stats put the Cubs in the bottom 5 of the league which should make Peralta’s job a bit easier today. Peralta enters today giving up less than 2 earned runs in each of his 4 starts and a 2.19 ERA. He makes for a good cash game play today. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
I will not be targeting any Cubs bats today.
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – Gomez has done a bit of everything so far this year. He already has 5 home runs and 4 stolen bases while hitting RH pitching for .333 and .600 SLG.
- Additional Plays: *Ryan Braun
Detroit at Minnesota

Pitcher Grind Down
Justin Verlander – Verlander has gone through 5 starts this season and has a 2.18 ERA to show for it. This does not tell us the whole story as he has allowed at least 9 base runners in his last 3 starts. He has got out of trouble in those games due to striking out 7, 7 and 8 batters. In the last 3 seasons, Verlander has had no problems shutting down this Twins squad (2.01 ERA in 9 starts) and makes for a good play today. Rating = 7
Kyle Gibson – Gibson came back down to Earth last game against the Rays giving up 7 earned in 3 innings of work. Before that game, he had been pitching way above his talent level and I think last games results should carry into this matchup against the Tigers. He brings his low K potential and high WHIP into today’s game and should be avoided.Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Victor Martinez – Most of the Tigers team is likely in play against Gibson today, but the lefties are high on my list. Gibson has allowed LH batters to hit .341 against him in his short career. This should allow guys like VMART (.314 AVG/.373 OBP) to get on base in a lineup that should put up a bunch of runs.
- Additional Plays: Miguel Cabrera Alex Avila Ian Kinsler
Minnesota
Joe Mauer – Mauer can basically hit anyone in the league, but has had some great numbers against Verlander. Mauer is 23 for 62 with 3 home runs against the Tiger pitcher and could be targeted for cash games.
Oakland at Houston

Pitcher Grind Down
Tommy Milone – Milone has been simply an average pitcher coming into the game with a WHIP of 1.53 and has not hit 100 pitches in any of his 3 starts. He does get a decent matchup against the Astros, but is hard to trust for cash games today. Rating = 4
Colin McHugh – I really did not see the 12 Strikeout, 3 hit performance that McHugh gave against the Mariners. His career numbers look pretty atrocious as he has a 7.83 ERA and a 3.81 K/9. I don’t foresee any type of repeat performance today against the A’s who have scored the 4th most runs against RH pitching so far this year. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss gets thrown around this order like crazy as he has hit in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th spot. Against the Righty, I expect him to be batting cleanup today in what could be a high scoring A’s lineup. All of his power comes against RH pitching and has a great chance to go yard today.
- Additional Plays: Coco Crisp Jed Lowrie John Jaso
Houston
Jose Altuve – Milone’s career splits are pretty similar against both RH and LH batters. Altuve has been one of the most consistent options on this Houston team and is in play again today. He is hitting lefties so far at a .480 clip and has hit them for a .321 AVG for his career.
- Additional Plays: George Springer
Tampa Bay at Chicago White Sox

Pitcher Grind Down
David Price – Price has really been up and down so far this season as he went complete in his last game against the Twins, but was blown up against the Yankees in the game before. It is amazing to see that he comes into this game with a 4.04 ERA considering how good he has looked in some games. He is striking guys out at a really high clip (10.09 k/9) and is one of the biggest favorites on the board today. Rating = 8
Scott Carroll – Carroll gets the nod today for the White Sox and is a rookie who has been in Triple A so far this season. In Triple A, he has a 1.57 ERA and considering it is his first big league action, we can look to target some Tampa Bats today Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
Tampa Bay
Matt Joyce – Joyce has been batting in the 3 spot against RH pitching which could be a good thing against the young RH pitcher. Joyce has taken advantage of this opportunity in Tampa and is hitting a ridiculous .351 so far this season. His price is rising, but should make a great cash game play.
- Additional Plays: Evan Longoria Ben Zobrist James Loney
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – He did not fare too well yesterday after his amazing performance Friday night. The guy has an April record with 9 home runs already and is always a GPP play due to his power.

Pitcher Grind Down
Edinson Volquez – Edison is off to a pretty unexplainable start to the season. He comes in yet to give up more than 2 earned runs in a game and has a WHIP of .93. I cannot see this being sustainable for the Pirate who has had a 1.49 career WHIP. His K numbers are the one category that are down this year and the Volquez implosion is always a possibility. Rating = 4
Adam Wainwright – Waino’s numbers would look even better if he didn’t have to exit the game in the 7th while only throwing 79 pitches last game. He has been incredible this season allowing hitters to bat .165 against him while keeping a 8.51 K/9. He is one of the top options on the board today. Rating = 9
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – Cutch has been a thorn in Wainwright’s side when the two go up against each other. McCutchen has gone 13 for 31 against him and could be a good contrarian outfielder many will overlook due to the matchup.
St. Louis
Matt Holliday – Holliday’s price is down as he has only 1 home run and 12 RBI’s on the season. Holliday has always hit RH pitching at a high clip (.296 in last 3 seasons) and could be a main contributor to Volquez getting blown up today.
- Additional Plays: Allen Craig * *Matt Carpenter
