Pitcher Grind Down
- Clay Buchholz – Buchholz has been bad all year and his DL stint did not seem to help him out at all. He has a 6+ ERA on the season and is allowing a ridiculous .312 BAA. He has a decent matchup against the Astros, but should be avoided in all formats. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6300 FD, $11115 DS, $11250 DD, $6900 DK, $62600 FF, $16500 SS, $11250 FTD
- Brad Peacock – Cosart has been scratched today and Peacock will make the spot start. Peacock has not been very good on the year with a 4.30 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. He walks way to many batters and the Vegas number is dropping since the change was made today. Peacock is an easy avoid. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6300 FD, $10467 DS, $11650 DD, $6300 DK, $76300 FF, $14900 SS, $11650 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Boston
David Ortiz – Ortiz is hitting very well recently (9 hits and 9 RBIs in his last 7 games) and gets a matchup against a righty in Peacock. He will look to go yard in Houston before the break.
Additional Plays: Brock Holt Dustin Pedroia Daniel Nava
Houston
Jason Castro – Castro is pretty cheap across the industry and makes a great play against Buchholz today. He is coming off a triple and home run yesterday and will look to continue it against Buchholz who is giving up a wOBA of .366 to lefties.
Additional Plays: Jose Altuve* Jonathan Singleton George Springer

Pitcher Grind Down
- Carlos Martinez – Martinez has now made 5 straight starts, but is still on a very low pitch count (88 highest yet). He has a 4.12 ERA on the year and the fact that he will go only 6 innings is very hurtful to his fantasy value. He should be avoided today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5900 FD, $11620 DS, $8350 DD, $5400 DK, $57500 FF, $14100 SS, $NA FTD
- Wily Peralta – Peralta has really struggled recently, due to some tough matchups. In his last 5 games he has allowed 23 earned runs. He has a very tough matchup against the Cardinals who he has struggled against in his career. (7.71 ERA, .319 BAA in 4 starts). I would avoid him today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6800 FD, $12777 DS, $12650 DD, $6600 DK, $80500 FF, $18200 SS, $12650 FTD
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
Matt Adams – He is starting to not be our value lefty 1st basemen anymore. He is still in play though, as he is still crushing RH pitching for a .366 AVG and .582 SLG.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter Matt Holliday Allen Craig
Milwaukee
Scooter Gennett – Martinez is allowing a wOBA of .384 to left handed batters. Gennett has a great matchup as he is hitting righties for over .300 on the year.
Additional Plays: Ryan Braun Lyle Overbay

Pitcher Grind Down
- Justin Verlander – Verlander continues to be a shell of his former self. He brings his 4.84 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into a matchup against a Royals team that has scored 13 runs in 3 starts against him this year. Verlander cannot be looked upon at a viable option today, especially against the Royals who strike out by far the lowest in the league. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7500 FD, $14666 DS, $14050 DD, $7000 DK, $87200 FF, $18500 SS, $13750 FTD
- Bruce Chen – Chen has really struggled in a few starts this year. He has made 6 total appearances on the year (4 starts) and has a 7.01 ERA to show for it. His struggles could continue today as he takes on this power filled Tigers squad. Avoid him in all game types. Rating = 2*
Salaries: $6000 FD, $10594 DS, $8150 DD, $6100 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $7500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Miguel Cabrera – There are some real good options at 1st base today, but Miggy is the top option. Chen has really struggled on the year and has been mashed by Miggy in his career. Cabrera is 16/39 with 5 home runs off of Chen.
Additional Plays: Torii Hunter Austin Jackson J.D. Martinez* Ian Kinsler
Kansas City
Billy Butler – Verlander has really struggled against RH batters this year giving up a wOBA of .390 to them. Butler has hit Verlander well in the past (33/76, 2 home runs), and will look to continue Verlanders struggles today.
Additional Plays: Alex Gordon Salvador Perez Eric Hosmer

Pitcher Grind Down
- Julio Teheran – Teheran is coming off his worst start of the year in a surprising struggling start at the Mets. He still has a 2.57 ERA and 1.01 WHIP on the year. He will look to cap off a great first half of the year against the Cubs. The total is set at 8 for the game, but Teheran is in play regardless since the Cubs are 23rd in the league in runs scored against righties. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8800 FD, $20825 DS, $19250 DD, $9400 DK, $113100 FF, $28000 SS, $18950 FTD
- Travis Wood – Wood will bring his 4.64 ERA into this matchup against the Braves. He also sports a 1.48 WHIP on the season. His matchup against the Braves is decent as they strike out at a very high rate, but is difficult to trust as he has not shown the potential to shut any offenses down this year. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6700 FD, $10520 DS, $10200 DD, $6500 DK, $53000 FF, $15400 SS, $10200 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
Justin Upton – Wood is giving up a wOBA of .366 to RH batters this year. Upton is always in play against lefties (.333 AVG), and has the potential for multi-HR games.
Additional Plays: Chris Johnson B.J. Upton
Chicago Cubs
I will be avoiding the Cubs batters due to the matchup today.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tyler Skaggs – Skaggs has been a decent starter for the Angels on the year. He has a 4.15 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He will have a tough last start before break against the Rangers who have a team wOBA of .331 for 6th best in the league. This game has a total of 10 making him not playable today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6200 FD, $11616 DS, $12900 DD, $7300 DK, $69600 FF, $19600 SS, $12900 FTD
- Scott Baker – Baker is probably going to be picked on a lot by DFS players today. He has only made 3 starts this year, but has 14 appearances. He has a 5.84 ERA on the season and is a huge underdog in a 10 run total game. Avoid. Rating = 1
Salaries: $5100 FD, $9141 DS, $7500 DD, $6800 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $7500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Kole Calhoun – After upsetting a few people yesterday, he hopefully will be overlooked a bit. That is doubtful though, as he has a great matchup against Baker today. This Angels squad makes for a great mini-stack.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout Josh Hamilton Erick Aybar Hank Conger
Texas
Alex Rios – Rios is always in play against any lefty pitcher, and especially against a non-elite one. He has a wOBA of .437 against lefties and his price makes him a great cash game play today.
Additional Plays: Elvis Andrus Adrian Beltre
