Pitcher Grind Down
- C.J. Wilson – Wilson is looking to bounce back after a rough outing against the Braves in Atlanta. To his credit, he did pitch well after giving up 4 earned runs in the first inning of that game. I always like targeting Wilson because the Angels typically let him throw close to 120 pitches when he is pitching well. He has a nice matchup against the Indians who are ranked 25th against RH pitching this season. Wilson is extremely efficient against LHB’s which really bodes well for him tonight. I may be higher on him than most, but all signs are a go for Wilson. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8300 FD, $16885 DS, $16300 DD, $9200 DK, $90900 FF, $25400 SS, $16600 FTD
- Justin Masterson – Masterson has been a tough pitcher to predict this season. He typically pitches well when he has good command or he falls apart when his command is off and he is walking batters. The Angels’ lineup has a nice mix of LHB’s and RHB’s that should cause some trouble for Masterson. Of the two starters in this game, Wilson is the recommended play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6900 FD, $12112 DS, $11150 DD, $6600 DK, $76200 FF, $16600 SS, $11150 FTD

LA Angels
Kole Calhoun – Calhoun had a huge game last night with 4 hits including a late inning HR. He has been terrific against RH pitching all season long and Masterson has given up a .335 wOBA to LHB’s since the start of last season.
Additional Plays: Josh Hamilton, Mike Trout
Cleveland
Carlos Santana – Since the start of 2013, Wilson has held LHB’s to a .234 wOBA so I highly recommend avoiding the LHB’s in this Indians’ lineup. If you are targeting any hitters here, target the RHB’s. Santana has been swinging a hot bat and is still fairly priced across the industry.
Additional Plays: None

Pitcher Grind Down
- Alfredo Simon – Simon has pitched well this season with a 2.95 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and a K/9 of 5.5. That said, Simon is a better real life pitcher than he is a fantasy baseball pitcher. He’s a slight underdog tonight against the Pirates and I like to target pitchers with a little more upside. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7000 FD, $14992 DS, $14550 DD, $8000 DK, $80200 FF, $22400 SS, $14550 FTD
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez is one of those pitchers that is always so cheap that you have to at least consider taking, especially when he is pitching in a pitcher’s park such as PNC Park. In 8 starts at PNC this season, he has a 3.22 ERA. I think he’s in play on multi-pitcher sites as the Reds are ranked 20th against RH pitching this season. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6000 FD, $11934 DS, $11800 DD, $7100 DK, $76300 FF, $18400 SS, $11800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Billy Hamilton – Hamilton is fresh off of a 3 steal performance last night against the Pirates and you have to think he will be aggressive on the base pads again tonight. I like the matchup against Volquez who has given up a .357 wOBA to LHB’s since the start of 2013.
Additional Plays: Joey Votto, Jay Bruce
Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – Cutch has been heating up over the last couple of weeks and has a .418 wOBA against RH pitching this season. Treat him as one of the top OF’s on the board tonight.
Additional Plays: Gregory Polanco

Pitcher Grind Down
- Matt Garza – Garza has posted a single strikeout in 3 of his last 5 starts. That’s a bit concerning, but he did post 9 and 8 strikeouts in the outings inbetween. Tonight he faces a tough Diamondbacks’ lineup in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. There is more risk than reward with Garza in this matchup. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6900 FD, $16403 DS, $13700 DD, $7800 DK, $83000 FF, $21500 SS, $13700 FTD
- Wade Miley – Miley was scheduled to start last night, but was a late scratch. He will be on the mound tonight though and my analysis will basically be the same. Avoid Miley and target the RHB’s of the Brewers. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6200 FD, $13953 DS, $13150 DD, $7800 DK, $79200 FF, $19400 SS, $13150 FTD

Milwaukee
Khris Davis – Miley has given up a .350 wOBA to RHB’s this season and Davis has been crushing LH pitching. On the season he has a .492 wOBA against southpaws which is almost a full 200 points higher than his wOBA against RH pitching.
Additional Plays: Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy, Rickie Weeks
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Montero has been good at home and he has been good against RH pitching. He has a wOBA over .400 against righties this season and has a nice track record against Garza.
Additional Plays: Gerardo Parra, Didi Gregorious, Paul Goldschmidt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jorge De La Rosa – De La Rosa has a decent matchup on paper, but the Dodgers have some tough bats that hit LH pitching well including Ramirez, Puig, Kemp, and Van Slyke. De La Rosa also has the disadvantage of having to pitch against Clayton Kershaw. No one will be targeting De La Rosa tonight and you can safely avoid him as well.
Salaries: $6400 FD, $10694 DS, $12350 DD, $6200 DK, $64600 FF, $15700 SS, $13000 FTD
- Clayton Kershaw – Two of the best pitchers in baseball are on the mound tonight with Kershaw and Hernandez. They have similar upside, but I do think Felix has the better matchup as the Rockies are pretty good against LH pitching, even on the road. That said, Kershaw should be in for a huge outing and should be targeted in all leagues if you can afford him. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10400 FD, $25867 DS, $21250 DD, $12300 DK, $144800 FF, $32600 SS, $21900 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
I don’t mind Troy Tulowitzki as a tournament play, but will be avoiding all of the other Rockies’ batters tonight against Kershaw.
LA Dodgers
Scott Van Slyke – It’s hard not to take Slyke every time he faces a LHP. Not only does he have a .519 wOBA against southpaws this season, but he is dirt cheap across the board. He should be a lock in all of your lineups tonight.
Additional Plays: Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Felix Hernandez – As mentioned above, I think King Felix is the top pitching option on the board tonight. Not only has he been terrific in his last few starts, but he is facing a Padres’ offense that is ranked dead last against RH pitching this season with a team .278 wOBA. It also doesn’t hurt that this game will be played in the most pitcher-friendly ballpark in baseball. Rating = 10
Salaries: $11200 FD, $26705 DS, $21050 DD, $12500 DK, $146600 FF, $33000 SS, $21050 FTD
- Andrew Cashner – Even though King Felix is pitching opposite him, I still like Cashner on multi-pitcher sites and in GPP’s. In 6 starts at Petco this season, Cashner has a 1.42 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.3. The Mariners’ offense has been struggling all season and Cashner should be in for another quality outing at home. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8100 FD, $17199 DS, $13850 DD, $7700 DK, $76800 FF, $23000 SS, $13850 FTD

Seattle / San Diego
This game features the lowest total of the night at only 6.0 runs. With Hernandez and Cashner pitching, you can safely avoid both offenses in this game.
