Pitcher Grind Down
- Mat Latos – Latos threw 97 pitches in his last start so we no longer have to worry about him being on any sort of a pitch limit. Last season Latos posted a 3.19 ERA with a K/9 of 8.0. He draws a nice matchup tonight against the Cubs who are ranked 29th against RH pitching this season (.287 wOBA). He’s a small favorite in a game that features a low total. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7600 FD, $16220 DS, $11950 DD, $9200 DK, $NA FF, $22000 SS, $10150 FTD
- Edwin Jackson – Jackson is a pitcher that is very inconsistent and is a player that is hard to target in daily fantasy baseball. He has a 5.12 ERA on the season, but he does have a decent K/9 of 8.9. While the Reds are below average against RH pitching on the season, they have been much better now that they are finally healthy. I’ll be avoiding Jackson in all leagues. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6800 FD, $12705 DS, $13150 DD, $6800 DK, $ FF, $18800 SS, $13150 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Devin Mesoraco – It’s hard to put anyone else here as Mesoraco has now homered in 5 straight games. He has been locked in all season and has a .436 wOBA against RH pitching.
Additional Plays: Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Billy Hamilton
Chicago Cubs
I’m going to avoid all Cubbies tonight. I don’t mind Anthony Rizzo as a GPP play, but Latos has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .310 wOBA since the start of 2013.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hector Noesi – Noesi has had a couple of solid starts this season, but still has an ERA well over 5.00 and that’s been the case for each of the last 2 seasons as well. This game has one of the highest totals of the night and Noesi is a large underdog. He’s an easy avoid tonight. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5900 FD, $8686 DS, $9550 DD, $6000 DK, $NA FF, $14100 SS, $9550 FTD
- Ubaldo Jimenez – Ubaldo’s biggest issue this season has been his command. He has already walked 51 batters in only 81 innings of work. It’s hard to post quality starts when you are giving so many free base passes to your opponents. The White Sox hit RH pitching well and I think Ubaldo struggles once again. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5900 FD, $10564 DS, $10450 DD, $6400 DK, $ FF, $14700 SS, $10450 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – Abreu was a popular pick last night, but he wasn’t involved in the 4 runs scored by the White Sox. I think he’ll be right in the middle of the production tonight against Ubaldo though. Abreu has a .401 wOBA against RH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Adam Eaton, Alexei Ramirez
Baltimore
Steve Pearce – As crazy as it sounds, Pearce actually has the highest wOBA against RH pitching of any Orioles player this season. He is mashing RH pitching to a tune of a .418 wOBA. He’s also swinging a hot bat with 13 hits over his last 7 games.
Additional Plays: Adam Jones, Nelson Cruz, Nick Markakis

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hiroki Kuroda – Kuroda is having a down year, but still owns a respectable 4.23 ERA pitching in the AL East. Tonight he draws an extremely tough matchup against the Blue Jays who are ranked 2nd overall against RH pitching this season. It doesn’t help that he has to face them in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. Avoid Kuroda tonight, even at his cheap price tag. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6800 FD, $11213 DS, $12500 DD, $7200 DK, $NA FF, $19000 SS, $12500 FTD
- Drew Hutchison – Hutchison has had a few impressive outings this season, but none of which have come at home. In 5 starts at the Rogers Centre, Hutchison has posted an ERA of 8.22 with a 1.89 WHIP. Yes he is a high strikeout pitcher, but his struggles at home are more than enough for me to fade him tonight against the Yankees. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5400 FD, $11445 DS, $12500 DD, $6900 DK, $ FF, $19200 SS, $12500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Yankees
Mark Teixeira – Teixeira doesn’t hit for a high average, but he still has good power in his bat. He has a .364 wOBA against RH pitching this season and gets a fantasy boost with this game being in the Rogers Centre.
Additional Plays: Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, Brian McCann
Toronto
Jose Reyes – Reyes only had 1 hit in his previous 6 games, but had a multi-hit, multi-run game last night. I think he can repeat that performance tonight against Kuroda whom he is 9/20 with 4 XBH’s off of in his career.
Additional Plays: Adam Lind, Melky Cabrera, Edwin Encarnacion

Pitcher Grind Down
- Brad Mills – Mills is hoping to have better luck against the Mets tonight than his teammate Scott Kazmir did last night. It was a HR fest for the Mets in a rare offensive outburst. Mills is not a highly touted prospect, but he’s dirt cheap and I do like the matchup against the Mets who are ranked 21st against LH pitching this season. He could be worth a look as a deep GPP play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $4600 FD, $11656 DS, $8150 DD, $5700 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $8150 FTD
- Zack Wheeler – Wheeler is coming off of a complete game shutout against the Marlins. He has a much tougher test in front of him tonight though as the A’s are ranked 3rd against RH pitching with a team .335 wOBA. Colon managed to shut down the A’s offense last night, but I’m not sure Wheeler can do the same. Use him as a GPP play only. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7300 FD, $15520 DS, $13400 DD, $7700 DK, $ FF, $21100 SS, $13400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Even though this game will be played in the pitcher-friendly Citi Field, Moss makes a solid play at 1B. Wheeler has given up a .352 wOBA to LH hitters and Moss owns a .378 wOBA against righties this season.
Additional Plays: John Jaso, Coco Crisp
NY Mets
David Wright – Wright is always in play against lefties. He has mashed southpaws his entire career and this season is no different as he has a .425 wOBA against them.
Additional Plays: Chris Young

Pitcher Grind Down
- Anibal Sanchez – Sanchez is coming off of an extremely rare start in which he didn’t strike a single batter out. He held the Royals to 1 earned run over 7 innings of work, but the absence of strikeouts really killed his fantasy production. Even though this game will be played in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park, I think Sanchez is in play. He’s looked sharp in his recent starts, the Rangers are ranked 22nd against RH pitching, and he should see plenty of run support. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8600 FD, $17097 DS, $16000 DD, $9700 DK, $NA FF, $27000 SS, $16000 FTD
- Joe Saunders – Saunders is a pitcher that you should avoid everytime he takes the mound. He’s only averaging 3 strikeouts per start and has posted an ERA over 4.00 in each of his last 3 seasons. Saunders is susceptible to RHB’s and the Tigers have plenty of those to throw at him. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5000 FD, $7878 DS, $8750 DD, $5600 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $8750 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
J.D. Martinez – This spot is typically reserved for Miggy, but Martinez has been on a tear of late. He has 17 hits in his last 10 games (9 of which went for extra bases). He’s been very good against RH pitching this season, but has historically hit lefties very well.
Additional Plays: Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Ian Kinsler, Rajai Davis, Austin Jackson
Texas
Adrian Beltre – Beltre is really the only Rangers’ bat that I will be targeting tonight. Beltre has a nice track record against Sanchez and has a .360 wOBA against RH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: None
