Happy Friday! Following yesterday’s extremely slim six-game slate, Major League Baseball is back in full force to begin the weekend, with 16 games scheduled, thanks to a double-header on the shores of Lake Erie. The action gets underway early in the afternoon at Wrigley Field, but four games begin as late as 9:38 p.m. EST, giving the betting community plenty of time to find something to their liking.

Across the last few weeks, we are 53-32-2 (63.8%) in this article. Since May 1, we are 150-114-9 on non-Home Run props and 2-4 on Home Run recommendations. MLB Player Props Today

Bryson Stott u0.5 Strikeouts (+120), DraftKings

Entering play on Friday, Bryson Stott has struck out in only 16.5% of his plate appearances against right-handed pitching. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against Joan Adon, who has struggled throughout his career to generate many swings-and-misses against left-handed pitching. In a brief sample size to begin 2023, Adon has 14 strikeouts in 14 innings, but three of those outings have come against teams unlikely to be in the postseason picture. Stott ranks in the 87th percentile in strikeout rate among qualified hitters this year, making him an appealing option at plus money in this spot.

Freddie Freeman u0.5 Strikeouts (+105), DraftKings

Freddie Freeman has a self-proclaimed goal to strikeout fewer than 100 times each season, so bettors know that he is going to do everything he can to put the ball in play each time he steps in the box. Sandy Alcantara had a mesmerizing 2022 campaign, but he has been far less impressive in 2023, especially in the strikeout department. Heading into the weekend, Alcantara owns a mediocre 20.9% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters this year. At plus money, Freeman has good value here.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

If the season ended today, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would set a new personal best for his lowest strikeout percentage as a professional, at 15.5%. Overall, he ranks in the 88th percentile in strikeout rate this year, making him one of the more dependable contact hitters in the game. Tonight, Guerrero Jr. gets to face Brett Kennedy, who lacks elite swing-and-miss stuff on the mound. Since being promoted to the big leagues, Kennedy has struck out only 7.1% of the right-handed batters he has faced. Guerrero Jr. seems to be a trustworthy option to begin the weekend.
