MLB Player Props Today
- Shohei Ohtani u1.5 Total Bases
- Mike Trout u1.5 Total Bases
- Bryson Stott less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts
Shohei Ohtani u1.5 Total Bases (-120), BetMGM
Shohei Ohtani has begun to emerge as the consensus favorite to win the American League MVP award, but that still doesn’t mean we should be betting on the over for his total bases on a nightly basis. In 53.2 innings of work to begin 2023, Dane Dunning has been tough on left-handed batters, with a 3.06 FIP and a .216 opponent batting average. Ohtani has also been hit-or-miss at this market number on the road this season, with a dead-even 16-16 record to the over. On a travel day against a decent opposing starter, the under is the move in this spot.
Mike Trout u1.5 Total Bases (-110), DraftKings
According to props.cash, Mike Trout has eclipsed this market number in only 14 of 31 road games to begin 2023. Additionally, Trout owns a pedestrian .244 batting average against right-handed pitching so far this season, meaning that he will likely need an extra-base hit to cash the over here, rather than there being a high likelihood of him recording multiple base knocks. Dane Dunning has not been dominant against right-handed batters this year, but a .237 opponent batting average is far from a disaster. Expect Dunning to keep Trout relatively quiet tonight.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Bryson Stott less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Entering play on Monday, Bryson Stott has struck out in only 12.5% of his plate appearances against southpaws in 2023. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against Tommy Henry, who owns an impossibly low 6.1% strikeout rate against left-handed batters so far this season. Stott has a contact-first approach at the dish, which should work in his favor tonight against inferior pitching. Trust him to get the job done here.
