MLB Player Props Today
- Charlie Morton u7.5 Strikeouts
- Ken Waldichuk u6.5 Strikeouts
- Jose Ramirez Less Than 0.5 Strikeouts
Charlie Morton u7.5 Strikeouts (-146), FanDuel
Charlie Morton is coming off of back-to-back double-digit strikeout games, but it still doesn’t warrant a market number this high at Coors Field. Prior to his two most recent starts, Morton had gone under this market number eight times in nine trips to the mound, with the lone exception being an 8-strikeout performance against the free-swinging Los Angeles Angels. Morton relies heavily on a high spin rate curveball to generate strikeouts, which is not a recipe for success at Coors Field. The Colorado Rockies are not a high-contact offense, but they are much better at home than they are on the road. Since August 10, the Rockies rank 18th in strikeout percentage at home against right-handed pitching. This should be good enough to keep Morton under 7.5 punchouts in this spot.
Ken Waldichuk u6.5 Strikeouts (-140), BetMGM
The Seattle Mariners swing and miss a lot, but not enough to warrant Ken Waldichuk flirting with seven strikeouts. Since May 28, Waldichuk has made nine starts, but has only eclipsed this market number twice – both times recording exactly seven strikeouts. Despite Seattle’s contact struggles, they have mostly avoided extremely poor strikeout performances against opposing starting left-handed pitchers. Since June 30, only two opposing southpaws have recorded more than six strikeouts against the Mariners. Framber Valdez has recorded fewer than seven strikeouts twice against them in that span. It is difficult to see Waldichuk, who owns a 55.0% first-pitch strike rate across his last four starts, managing to hit the over here.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Jose Ramirez Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
If the Cleveland Guardians lose tonight, they can start booking tee times for that first week in October. Consequently, it should be expected that the Guardians are hyper-focused tonight in their matchup against the Minnesota Twins. Jose Ramirez, the undisputed leader of this offense, owns a superb 9.7% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this year. Pablo Lopez has a strikeout percentage nearly 10 points lower across the platoon, making this a good matchup to invest in Ramirez from a contact perspective.
