Happy Wednesday! This evening, the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks will play Game 5 of the World Series, which could be the final MLB game of the 2023 season. Texas enters play with a commanding 3-1 series lead and a chance to win the organization’s first championship with a victory this evening. Nathan Eovaldi will be on the bump, looking to close out the series. Zac Gallen will take the ball for Arizona, hoping to push the series back to Arlington for Game 6.

MLB Player Props Today

Nathan Eovaldi o15.5 Outs Recorded (+110), Caesars

Andrew Heaney surprisingly gave Manager Bruce Bochy 5 innings in Tuesday’s Game 4, but make no mistake, Bochy would still love to get Eovaldi through 6 innings on Wednesday in Game 5. Despite jumping out to a 10-0 lead yesterday, Bochy was still forced to use seven different pitchers, including Jose Leclerc, due to the bullpen allowing 6 runs across the final 2 frames. Eovaldi had a poor World Series opener in terms of run prevention, allowing 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. However, he still had 8 strikeouts and touched 98 MPH with his fastball. Prior to that start, Eovaldi had completed at least 6 innings in each of his other four postseason starts. He is likely to be given every opportunity to get deep into the game again tonight, making the over on his outs recorded an appealing play.

Zac Gallen u4.5 Strikeouts (-155), BetMGM

Gallen managed to get through 5 innings in Game 1 of the World Series, but it was far from smooth sailing for him. He allowed 3 earned runs and walked 4 batters, throwing 99 pitches to only 22 batters faced. Tonight, he will have to contend with the same dangerous Texas lineup for the second time in less than a week, and this time, Arizona’s season will be hanging in the balance. Despite playing without Adolis Garcia in Game 4, Texas scored 10 runs in the first 3 innings of the game, proving that their offensive attack is deep enough to withstand his absence. Expect Manager Torey Lovullo to have an extremely short leash on Gallen in this spot, making the under on his strikeouts a worthwhile stab.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Zac Gallen Less Than 5.0 Hits Allowed, PrizePicks

Even when Gallen pitches poorly, he tends to allow 5 hits or less. During these playoffs, Gallen has allowed 5 hits or fewer in three of his five outings, including his first start against the Rangers during the World Series. Tonight, Gallen is likely to be on a very tight leash, with a rested bullpen behind him and Arizona’s season on the line. If the Diamondbacks manage to win Game 5, there is a scheduled off day on Thursday, which further incentivizes a quick hook if Gallen runs into any significant trouble. There are multiple ways in which this look could cash.
