MLB Player Props Today

Chris Sale o5.5 strikeouts (-145), DraftKings

Since May 1, the San Diego Padres rank 22nd in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching and have punched out in nearly a quarter of their total plate appearances. This season, the Padres have struck out eight times in a game against Wade Miley and seven times in a game against Clayton Kershaw – two of the more strikeout-capable left-handed pitchers they have seen. Tonight, they have to contend with Chris Sale, who has eclipsed this market number in six of his eight turns through the rotation this year. Take the over here at 5.5.

Mike Trout o1.5 total bases (+105), BetMGM

We tried to take Mike Trout over 0.5 total bases yesterday, but he ended up getting a day to rest his legs, so our play was voided. Entering play fresh on Saturday, Trout is a good bet to do some damage against Louie Varland and the Minnesota Twins bullpen. Trout has been in somewhat of a slump in recent weeks, but it is possible that fatigue or mental overload could have played a role in those mediocre numbers. In baseball, sometimes players simply need to hit the refresh button from time to time. Expect one of the best players in the game to get back to mashing baseballs sooner rather than later, and perhaps as early as tonight.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Nolan Arenado u0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

On the season Nolan Arenado has been relatively strikeout-neutral against right-handed pitching, with a 21.4% strikeout rate. The same can be said for Noah Syndergaard against right-handed batters, against which he has a 22.2% strikeout rate. On Saturday night, Arenado is not a mortal lock to avoid striking out, but he should have a good opportunity to put the ball in play in each of his at-bats against the softer-tossing Syndergaard, who is extremely reliant on fastballs and variations of fastballs (Sinkers, Cutters) as part of his arsenal. Trust Arenado to get the job done here.
